Why has it been so dead here?

Hello to all. Enjoy this site. but it sure has been dead here. The emotiva site is seeing alot of new aperion people there checking out there amps.

I do have to say i do like there products. Go with my 6 Ts and 6 C nice. I have a XPA-3 right now hooked up to them.

Going to get a XPA-2 as soon as i get my bonus check next month. Hook that up to my fronts and use the XPA-3 for my center and rears.

Would love to get 2 XPA-1 Mono block amps but, don't want my neighbor's upset with me all the time... LOL

Love my 6 Ts and 6 C.

Been along time since i have seen any new reviews from new buyers.

Hope there still selling ok for the Aperion Crew.

Bought a new condo

Hey guys,

Since the posts have been a little light lately, I thought I'd share the beginnings of what will be future posts with a new location/setup. Just bought a condo here in Chicago. It's new construction, so I don't really have any pictures yet, but there will be some to follow when I finally close and move in.

I did myself absolutely NO favors on the HT front. Floor-to-ceiling windows, concrete ceiling/construction, no dedicated room. Too much of it was great to pass the deal up, so I'll make due. I'll be able to integrate my acoustic panels, and the living area is considerably bigger than before, so that should help tame the issues.

Does anyone have a 6C and this stand?

Just wondering if anyone has the 6C and this stand:

Walker Edison Regal 4-in-1 TV Stand w. Mount

If so, where do you put the 6C? Does it fit on the top shelf or the 2nd shelf? And how do you like the stand? Is the mount pretty secure?

Any Aperion Owners in the DFW Area? with 6C/5C and 6T's/5T's?

Just a big Thank You to the staff at Aperion for their recent handling of a warranty issue with my original Edge Audio speakers purchased in January 2001.

I bought the 5.1 set with the 12" sub when Aperion was know as Edge Audio,and it has served me extremely well since then as my primary set in the family room. As a matter of fact, I liked them so much that in December 2001, I cought another set for the basement theater.

On August 10th, I noticed that the sub didn't sound like it normally did and in the process of checking it and the connections, discovered a vertical crack in the wood case on the back. I looked carefully at all the other speakers and discovered another with a small crack on the back.

I sent off an e-mail to John Wanderscheid inquiring what if anything could be done. Within a few hours, I had an e-mail back from John telling me they would take care of the issue and that I would be hearing from Korey Kather to make the arrangements the same day.

Well, true to the promise, Korey called and we set up the return of all of the speakers, shipping pre paid, and the replacement with the new models. This all happened on the same day!

On August 30th, I received the new speakers and I did upgrade to the new vertical center channel, so I did spend a bit more, but very little.

They're now set up and sound even better than the original set.

Thanks Aperion, for outstanding service, and standing behind your product without any questions or problems. It's quite refreshing to find a company that really understands and endeavors to practice what they promise regarding customer service.

Speakers popping since I rearranged receiver and speakers?

Hey guys. I have noticed that my speakers are popping. This happens when it switches to a commercial sometimes. I am using a Pioneer SC-05 receiver. There is a ground loop in my apartment. I noticed this by the purple lines on my projector. I fixed that by installing a special cable spliter and then running the cable through a UPS. The receiver plugs into the UPS as well. I am pretty sure the UPS is cleaning the power as well or at least keeping the current at sufficient level.

What could be causing the popping? This never happened before until I moved the UPS to another wall outlet. Could it be a setting on the receiver? Bad wiring?

This has happened on my front speakers as well as the back. I am kind of worried since I paid a good amount of money for these and want to keep them in the best condition possible. Can any of you guys help? What could be causing the popping?

...and I'm loving 'em. Gotta say, there's few time where a product truly lives up to the hype. I use it primarily for TV, but every once in a while a moment occurs when I'm alone in the room and can just sit and listen to some tunes. Not often with 3 children. But, tonights one of those nights. 2 ch. stereo through the 4T's. Such a great sound. I'm trying to convert my Bose loving father iin-law. His receiver died so he bought a HK 354. He wanted a Center speaker after I convinced him to plug a speaker in. So he goes and buys a bose center for 200 bucks. Thing is 18' wide, 5" deep and 3" tall. So I do what any self respecting Son-inlaw would do. I packed up my towers and center and hauled 'em over. He painfully admitted the 4C sounded better. :) He's slowly coming around. He'll have a set of 4T's and a 4C before it's over. If I gotta go watch TV over there, I ought to at least enjoy the sounds. :) Anyway, if you're looking at these systems, believe the hype. They truly are a cut above the rest. I just can't wait until I have a big enough space for a set of 6T's.

I posted here a couple months ago about downsizing my big AR9s to bookshelf speakers and the 6Bs were highly recommended. A week ago I received my new Aperions - not bookshelf models at all - but 6Ts. The truth is, when I called to order I just couldn't go to bookshelf speakers on stands. The big towers were too appealing - so that's what I got. Still, I can justify it considereing they are a downsize for those big 52" tall, 130 pound ARs. I'm fortunate to have borrowed a pair of Magnepan 1.6QR planars at the same time - so I can A-B the Maggies and the 6Ts.

When I opened the 6T boxes, like everyone, I was amazed at the way they are packaged. Finding that purple velour sack with it's yellow draw-string was special. For a minute there I thought someone had sent me two 30-gallon bottles of Chivas Regal (which would cost about the same as the 6Ts.) What a fine way to prep a new owner for the "Aperion Experience!" Then, again like everyone else, I found the speakers to be beautiful! Flawless high-gloss black and I do mean flawless. I was excited and ready to listen!

Since I'd spent quite a lot of time carefully experimenting in placing the Maggies (they are temporarily placed on the short wall of my room, about 5" from the wall) placing the 6Ts on the long wall was a piece of cake. I started with the drivers at 4" from the front wall and, after a lot of experimenting, ended up with them at 28" with a little toe-in, which clearly gave me the best soundfield and imaging. I was surpised I could get them that close to the front wall without compromising imaging. My 60" Sony RP sits between them with no ill effects whatsoever. I thought it would give me problems so I tried positioning it flush with the plane of the drivers and then back against the wall. Oddly, I actually prefered the imaging with the TV against the wall, to the rear of the 6Ts.

But the sound! I didn't have high hopes that they would compete with the Maggies but BOY was I wrong! Playing classical string trios, symphonic recordings, jazz or country, the diminuative (compared to the Maggies) 6Ts hold their own and, at times, sound better than those giant Maggie monoliths. The only, and I mean only, area where the Maggies are preferred, is in their open and airy soundstage on certain symphonic recordings. The Maggies, radiating from the front and rear of those huge panels, fill the end of the room with sound but, IMO, at the slight expense of rock-solid imaging.

Yesterday I ordered the 5C to see how they sound in surround sound. My old center was a Boston Acoustic A70 which I bought back in the early 80s, before center speakers were around. I'm anxious to hear dialog on this smaller center. Hopefully, I won't have to exchange it for the 6C but, of course, I will if necessary..

The bottom-line: I'm leaning heavily toward the Aperions. I've always lusted after Maggies but the truth is, I'm loving the Aperions more and more, though it's a close call.That Maggie sound is seductive but so is the sound of the 6Ts.

Now....what does a guy do with 2 great old AR9s and 2 Ar93s that weigh a combined 380 pounds? Wish I had another room where I could use them but I don't. I've got to find a home for these babies - a home where they'll be appreciated.. They''ve served me very well for over 28 years and I can't bring myself to store them away in the back of the garage. Lord! They're like family!

Music is first, Movies are second

If you are on the fence between 5T and 6T, go with the 6er's

Thanks to Jason for expediting, and understanding, my upgrade from 5T to 6T

I run my system without a subwoofer (don't want to meet the neighbors!) and the 6T's fill the void

Hi all Aperion Owners. I have decided to go with some Aperion speakers (Over polk Audio) after reading so much positive. However I am undecided

on which. First I was thinking of the 4T's, then I looked at specifications and must say they are rather small (and very light only 19 lbs !! ). So I looked

at the 5T's and the 6T's. Right now my living situation is a small siting room but I will be moving to something bigger within 3 years. I have an open kitchen to the sitting room. (Sitting room is Maybe 10 X 15 and Kitchen is 6-7 X 15.) The cost of the 6T is considerably more, how does the sound quality compare ?

I will be ordering a Pioneer elite SC-07 also.

Room size/How much difference is there between 5.1 and 7.1 surround?

I'm a noob, so bear with me. I'm trying to figure out how much difference in sound there really is between 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound? The room I'd be setting it up in is 14.5 feet by 24 feet, and I'd be sitting pretty much dead center in the room with the TV along one of the short walls. The system would be primarily for movies (Blue Ray DVDs)(to be honest, they're mostly cheesy action flicks, but I do like my explosions to sound like "real" explosions!). If I understand the speaker placement requirements correctly, part of the problem with a 7.1 system is that there are large floor-to-ceiling windows along the center section of one of the long walls (directly to the left of where I sit), so I there doesn't apper to be a good way to put in the center/side speakers. (There are actually two large windows and a door, and they take up about nine feet along the centor of the wall. There is about 15 inches between the top of the windows and the ceiling)

I don't think I'll be living in this house for more than a couple years, but I'd like to buy a good system that will work in quite few rooms in whatever house I buy in the future. (I'd prefer to buy a system that's a bit of overkill for this room if need be, rather than buy something now and then start over in a couple years after I move)

My thinking right now is that it might make sense to buy 4 of the 6T towers with the 12D subwoofer and 6C center speaker, and get a decent receiver (it appears to me $800 - $1000 should do it for the receiver?), set it up for 5.1 for now, then upgrade to 7.1 at future date if/when I can set it up in room that's more suitable for mounting the 7.1 speakers.

Are there any major disadvantages to going this route? In the real world, does 7.1 really make that much difference? (i.e. is it worth it to try to figure out a way to mount the 7.1 speakers in my existing room?) Also, would the 6T speakers actually be too much for this room and cause problems in some way?

One last question: besides space and/or appearance, are there any disadvantages to using towers for the rear speakers?

Once again, bear with me, I'm a noob at this!

So I've had the speakers for about a year now and I have to say that they've made me spoiled. It's hard sometimes to go to the movies when my home theater rivals every word, note and sound effect that I hear. Keep up the great work Aperion!

Pulled the trigger: 6Ts & 5C

Well, after about 6 months of speaker research (and saving up to buy them) I finally pulled the trigger the other day on a pair of 6Ts & 5C in high gloss black. Tried to get them in time for my birthday next weekend but the 6Ts are out of stock for a few days. Bah! Can't wait to get them! I am super excited!

New system picts and a TV stand question

I recently purchased a sweet Aperion system.

Major kudos to the Aperion customer service, they were top notch!

It is awesome, the setup is straight forward. But I haven't really tweaked it out beyond setting the crossovers to 80HZ. Here is what I purchased:

4T Fronts, 5C Center, 8D Sub, 4B Rear surrounds

The LCD TV is a Samsung LN52A650

The receiver is a monster Ingera 8.8

I have attached a few picts of my glorious setup. I wouldn't change anything about what I have except for one thing. I don't like my TV stand with all of the components exposed and the rat's nest of wires. Also I have a major concern of overheating the Integra 8.8 receiver. The Integra 8.8 is massive and is a tight fit on the bottom shelf, and has no real cooling airflow over it.

My buddy bought a Whalen Stand from BestBuy and it is quite nice and I think that it will be a nice addition to my setup. I helped him set up his system and right now all that is coming out of the back of the setup is the speaker wires, power cord, and HDMI to the TV. I'll have to modify it to fit the deep 18 plus inch deep Integra 8.8. Basically I'll just build out the back about 2 inches.

Here is the stand in question:

Now, I have a concern about the front center channel behind the Whalen Stand built-in grill... Will the center channel acoustics be affected behind the grill. What I was thinking about doing is to take off the Aperion grill and just have the center in there with the dome exposed. That may help keep the sound pure. The Whalen center grill has some "cheap" fabric covering a center beam in it. Or I may just leave off the grill and modify the stand so that I don't see the Velcro that is used to hold the grill in place.

Do you all think the wood and grill will affect the sound quality of the center channel?

Assuming that FedEx hasn't lost them (they've been in Not Portland since the 17th, with no updates in the meantime), the new setup should be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions regarding setting these things up; the Bravus settings have me the most concerned, but with you guys' help, I'm sure I'll figure it out!

I've got my 4Ts set up in my library room as Zone 2 speakers, and they sound absolutely fantastic (better in fact than they did in my great room, where they lived for a while when I first got my rig hooked up). They're very clear and detailed... amazingly so, in fact. They've probably got around 40 hrs. of time on them right now, and they continue to improve. The build quality is outstanding. I had originally intended to listen to other speakers in stores locally and compare them, but after listening to them for a while, I decided not to bother; these things are just fantastic.

When I get some more time, I'll post up a review of the 4Ts to the store as well!

Real world price of my 5 speakers?

Hey guys, I bought aperion speakers about 3 years ago. They are the bookshelf speakers thats all I know because I don't think they had all these models they do now. I also have the VAC center, and a 10" woofer I think

I want to get some towers.. will any of them match okay in terms of frequency, timber and all that crap?

Hi people, basically am from the UK am getting a Pioneer PDP LX5090 and an Onkyo 607..... but i need speakers. I really want two Aperrion Tower speakers and am finking about adding them to a good normal 5.1 surround sound system hence making it 7.1.

I want to buy an Aperion but they don't seem to exist outside the US, can i import these speakers or does any one know if i can buy them from the UK... Also as a newbie to the speakers market am willing to spend up to £500 on speakers can anyone recommend anything?

Saturday Delivery

The first part of my speaker order came in a couple of weeks ago, the Fedex site said it was for delivery on a Saturday but they changed it and it arrived on Monday.

The 2nd part of my order is showing for delivery tomorrow - another Saturday - I bet they change that too and with the Memorial Day weekend I bet it doesn't get here until Tuesday :-(

...that my new Aperion system comes in tomorrow!

I've had a HTIB Onkyo system for the past 6 years and just ordered from Aperion on Tuesday. If all goes well I should receive my brand spanking new piano black 5T's up front with a 5C center and 4T surrounds sometime tomorrow. Add to that my Bravus 12D and I think anyone could understand why I'm excited. I've got the den wired, the banana clips are waiting, and my Onkyo 876 looks like she's as excited as I am. Can't wait to unwrap the silk bags!
