Will a XPA-2 void my warranty?

Hello to all.

I have a XPA - 3 right now running my 6T fronts and my 6C center.

Was thinking about getting a XPA-2 to run my fronts and use the XPA-3 for my center and surrounds.

The XPA-3 is rated @ 200 watts @ 8 ohms and 300 @ 4 ohms.

The XPA-2 is rated @ 250 watts @ 8 ohms and 500 @ 4 ohms.

My ? is to the Aperion staff. If i hook up a XPA - 2 to my 6 T's will it void my warranty?

As the 6 T's are rated @ 50 - 300 watts @ 6 ohms.

Buzz or Hum

First hope this post belongs here.

Second my issue, right now I get a buzzing or humming during Blu-Ray playback, but only during the FBI screen, or during a MPAA rating screen. But never during movie\gaming playback. My system is set up as the following,

Speakers - Aperions (of course) 4t Hybrid

PS3 slim 120gb

Onkyo TX-SR806

Connections via HDMI v3

Now when I used the plain old DVD player I got no noise, so those of you out there who also have blu-ray and maybe a PS3, do you guys get this noise on those screens.

Looking at in-wall speakers

This market is so flooded with options my head is spinning. I've looked at B&W, Energy, Axiom, Paradigm, and others. Aperion also comes up often as a great speaker at a great price.

I've been struck by the "Wife Factor" so my choice in speakers has been limited to "In-Wall Only". I have a fairly large room at 27' deep x 16' wide, with 13' vaulted ceilings. The only previously owned speaker I'm allowed to keep is the 10" sub. We will be utilizing the system for everything from listining to music (primarily for entertaining), movies, gaming, you know all the normal stuff.

So with that said will the 6-lcr and my L/R and the 6-IW as my center, surround, and rear be enough? Should I consider adding wides and will those help at all with music? My concern is I'm comming from a pair of Energy RC-10 bookshelf speakers that I absolutly love. I understand that in-wall speakers cant compete with good floor or bookshelf speakers, at my price point, but I do want to get the best possible solution so not only is my wife happy but so am I!

In-wall Freq Response

I'm considering replacing my rear surrounds with a pair of 6-IW, and noticed that the frequency response on the website differs slightly from the freq response in the downloadable user manual. Specifically, the website lists the freq response for the 6-IW as 70Hz - 22kHz, while the manual lists the response as running from 50Hz - 22kHz (plus or minus 6dB). If the website is correct, then do you have updated + or - 3dB freq responses available for the 6-IW? Thanks.

Omni Mount with 5B

I use 5Bs in the rear. Now they're sitting inside of an open area about 9' up (there's nowhere else to put them). I have them wedged to aim down but I need to angle them down more but I'm afraid they'll topple over. I'd like to use mounts in the side wall that would allow me to move the speakers up a bit so I can angle them down securely. I looked at the Omnimount (the 20.0 and the 20.5) online but can't tell if they'll do the job. I know Aperion sells the 20.0. I don't see a problem with the weight, but do you think they'd work for what I have planned? Hopefully the drawings will make sense, if not - let me know.

I am in the market for an amplifier. From what I understand, one should have amplification that is rated for the impedance matching the speakers. But most amplification is for either 4 or 8 ohms and the 5t and 6t have an impedance rating of 6 ohms. What amplification would you recommend. I have a receiver, but want a solid state amplifier like the Bosangwha Rev.2.3 Monoblock Amplifier.

Looking for front,center and rear speakers. Got Aperion from browsing...never heard of it before.

My current setup is

Yamaha RXV1800
Panasonic 50 inch plasma 850u
Outlaw LFM1-EX sub (purchased a few months before and not planning to change it)
Bose satellites (hate these....bought it when my knowledge was limited and fell into the trap of Bose without researching...years ago)

Room is 18x13 with one end open to Kitchen. pls see attached room plan.

Sub is placed in the corner next to the rears.

I was looking at 5T towers, center and dipole surrounds. Will this be sufficient for my room configuration? I use my system for 70% movies and 30% music.

Waiting for your advise to help decide.

Driving Intimus 4B

Any chance I could drive the 4Bs with an older Sony AVR (DE-435). It's rated at 100W per channel. Initially I would be using the 4Bs in a small room without a subwoofer, though I'll likely add a sub in the near future. Thanks!

Rear speaker placement and selection advice request

Hi, I'm finally upgrading my 10 year old Yamaha cheap-o speaker set to a suite of Aperions 7.1, but before I can order I have to select the best option for the rear speakers both in type and location.

I'm looking at the 6T-DB Hybrid XD set to accompany my new RX-V1900 but wasn't sure if 5Bs or 5DBs might be better rear speakers for my layout/arrangement.

I've attached a diagram showing my basement (HT) layout. Currently my old satellites are about 15 feet back from the sofa and I've been told that is too far away and I should move them closer. The only "closer" option will put them almost directly behind the sofa on the support structures.

So my advice request is for the best rear speakers (5DBs or 5Bs) for this layout and combo'd in with the best location for the rears.

I had been tempted to keep the rears on the far back wall because the poker table is back there and I can flip the AVR to 7-ch stereo to put music right on top of us. But if having those rears that far back during movie time is wasted then I'd rather move the rears up and later add a 2nd zone for turning on just when I need music that far back.

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to ordering these soon.

Insulation behind new in-wall speakers?

I am interested in buying the new 6-LCR in wall speakers for a dedicated home theater in the basement of a new house. I will be building the walls myself, and I am just wondering how to get the best sound from the new Aperion in-walls. Should I place insulation behind them? Should I box them in the wall with plywood behind the speakers? Or, were the speakers designed for a certain type of installation? Thanks.

Home theater newbie looking for help

I'm looking to get my first real serious home audio system and need some help. I currently live in a small apartment and the room I would be putting the system in is about 10 x 13, but I wouldn't mind a system that could handle a bigger room. I'm still moving around a decent amount and want something that can handle a larger room also. I was thinking about getting the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K receiver and was thinking about aperion speakers. Any recommendations as to what system to get? Also, any recommendations on the receiver I have picked out?

I would appreciate any of your thoughts on my question.

I have a 5C, with 4 5Bs mounted up on the walls, angled down. I just got 2 5Ts to uses as fronts, and I'm using the 5Bs as the height channels running through an Onkyo 607, with a velodyne sub. I am really blown away by the sound.

So my question is about one last possible upgrade, I'm thinking of trading up to the 6C. My setup is in a large room, about 30x20 -- this is divided up into a kitchen and a family room. The main listening spot is about 11-12' from the tv. Any thoughts, recommendations.

Finally, how does the upgrade process work?? Do I just order the 6c now and return 5c after I get the new speaker? Do you have a suggested shipper?

Canadian duty

Hi,

I live in Ottawa, Canada. I was wondering about the duty. I thought that we wouldn't have to pay duty on speakers if they are made in the US?

Also have you ever tried shipping to Canada with USPS? I hear they don't charge duty because they have an agreement with Canada Post.

Bass Traps

I have had a continual problem taming my bass. I know it is a room issue and I have tried many experiments. I don't have a lot of placement options on my 8D, or my 4Ts either. The best solution I have come up with is to turn the sub down. That is not a good solution however. I decided to try something else. Let me show you my sub location.

Bad Corner

What I tried yesterday was to gather all the pillows I could find and stacked them behind the dreaded "Comfy Chair"! It made a huge difference. I was able to bump my sub up by 6 dB and the whole mucial range was clearer, not just the bass but the mids clarity improved a lot. Ok, the wife had a fit, she wants her sofa cusions back. They helped but it needs more. I know PJ ordered some but you have to get 2 and I only need one, besides you all probably figured out by now I am frugal. I did some google searching and did not find a lot of good stuff for do it yourselfers. Does anybody have any tips, links or other suggestions?

5.1 to 7.1

I am considering upgrading my 5.1 system to a 7.1. I would like to get a couple of the 4bp's for the back but am not sure how much better the 7.1 would be over the 5.1. If anyone has an opinion, I would love to hear it. Also, I have no experience with bipole speakers so if anyone has any advice on them I would love to hear it (especially on the 4bp's). I live in Canada (no 30 day trial) so I want to make sure I get some advice first. Thanks. Scott

I want to downsize!

My present system includes some great (!) but old AR-9 speakers, with AR-93s on the side and AR-28s in the rear. The 9s are HUGE! Over 120# each and the 93s are almost as large. Frankly, the sound is everything I want, even thought the ARs date back to the early 80s (when they cost me the proverbial arm and leg.) Still, I love the sound but I do want to downsize to smaller, more manageable speakers.

Given my listening room size, 22" long, 15' wide, 10" high (pretty big, I think,) I wonder if I can get bookshelf speakers (on stands) to give me the CLEAN volume I want, to get the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gerry Mulligan Quartet or Waylon Jennings right into the room?

Question? Can I get away from floor standing speakers and get what I want? If not - please make some recommendations?

I am going to buy a sytem in the next 6 months to replace my onkyo htib. My reciever is going to be the emotiva umc-1 with the xpa-5 or upa-7 amp?( any opions on this will be aprecciated as to which amp) i want to spend around 1750 for speakers. So here is my delima, I will use the system 70/30 movies to music and am lost if i should get the 4t system which got good reviews, the 5b sytem with the 8d sub or a custom kinda mix of 6b's in front with the 5c, and 4bs for surrounds with the 8d sub. my living room is abou 22x15 with a large opening (12ft) to the dining room. im not sure if the mix and match would work or not but i figure the 6bs up front with the 5b might offer better sounds as alot of the sound comes from these and the 4bs dont carry to much of the load, i am not a audio genius and this is my first venture at a good system. would it sound good or would one of the matched sets be better and if so which for my room size and budget?

i am hoping to purchase some aperion speakers for mostly home theater. i have a 18x22 living room with a large opening on one side (about 12ft) to the dining room. I am curious which would be better for my situation the intimus 6b f HD fusion set or the or the 5t hybrid system? does the 6b really go lower than the 5t's? any help is appreciated..... Thanks

How do you hook up a wii to a Onkyo 607?

I have my PS3, and direct tv going to my receiver, I don't use the sound on the tv rather my Aperion speakers. The wii has 5 composite cables to hook up and on the back of the 607 the game part only has 3, also would I need to run a wire from the out to the tv? Any ideas on hooking up my Wii to my 607? I am wanting to avoid all the wires going to my tv and rather run everything though my receiver. I wish Wii would make a cable that had a HDMI connector on the end.

Onkyo 670 - Use for Video?

Hi Guys,

So I just purchased a 670 receiver and some 5Bs to go along with my new 5C and old Velodyne. I am anxious to say the least. While I'm waiting (patiently, not!) I thought of a question.

I'm no expert, and I have a simple set-up -- I don't use the system for games or anything, just TV and movies, etc.. Currently I have the DVR and Blu-ray going straight into the TV using HDMI cables. The TV is a Pioneer Kuro that is essentially perfect and I don't want to screw that up.

Is there any reason why I should use the Onkyo video connections? What about other more high-end AV receivers, why would one want to use them??

Large or Small

So I just received my 4T Intimus setup a week ago. Set everything up with my Onkyo 806 on Friday, and have been fiddling with it all weekend. Question I have is, on the speakers manuals, they talk about setting them to large or small but I can't find a place to do that in the 806 setup menu for the life of me.

Does anyone have an idea where to find those settings.

Hello all,

I am taking the plunge and building out the system in my media room. It's a very large room in my finished basement (>500sqft). I have a Denon 3808CI that I came to own through some good luck. My primary use for the system will be Bluerays/DVDs/TV and gaming. The four rears are pre-wired in ceiling. After a good bit of research I have narrowed down my choices to Aperion and a couple others.

So some questions... I have been looking at the Intimus 6T towers, 6C center and 6-IC in ceiling for the room and I am unsure between the 8D sub or 10D sub. Any advice on this? I am assuming that because of the larger size of the room that the 6T/6C are the more appropriate choice for the fronts and centers?

Help with sub

I have a Onkyo 806 receiver and I don't think it is recognizing the sub.

It is a Bravus 8D

I have the sub on

No change when I turn it up or down

Speaker configuration subwoofer to yes

Front to 80Hz

Center to 100Hz

Surround to 120Hz

LPF of LFE to 100Hz

Double Bass off

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this or if it might just be the cable I have.

Also if you see something wrong with my settings I would appreciate any help with that too.
