I was wondering if the H/K DVD 47 would be worth an upgrade seeing how it has an HDMI connection and it upscales 420p signals to 720p or 1080i. I've seen the DVD 47 priced around $225-$300 compared to the MSRP of $399. Anyone think it'll make a significant visual difference on a Sony 34XBR960? Or should I just hang in there and wait for the hi-def DVD players?

Onkyo TX-RS804

I plan to purchase an Aperion speaker system right after Christmas (have to let the dust settle first) and would like to know if Aperion will have the new Onkyo TX-RS804 receiver available. Thanks.

Any opinions on the TX-SR804? (although many stores seem to carry it). It's cheaper, with better ease of use and has HDMI upscaling. ____ The only thing I can find is one user report on CNET by someone who returned his because of a hum that the manufacturer could not cure. That's it. ____ I *think* its like the SR803, but with better HDMI features ... So if you don't have an SR804, tell me about your SR803 experiences and whether the SR804 looks like an improvement. ____ Finally, do you think the Denon 2807 is a $200 better AVR?

The Onkyo SR-803 has two HMDI in and 1 HMDI out, but other video sources (S-Video and component) are not sent on the HMDI out - you have to run another line to the monitor.

For me that's a serious bummer since it also involves changing the input on the plasma TV - something my Harmony remote is not yet adept at doing.

Optical input cap fell off on HK DPR2005

Hi,

I was disconnecting one of my optical cables on my HK DPR2005 and the plastic cap came right off. The plastic cap usually bends outwards when there is nothing plugged in and is pushed in when you insert a cable. Now when plugging an optical cable in, it is not as secure as when the cap is there. Did anybody have this experience? Is it broken or can it be popped back in? You need to really yank an optical cable to get it out. I suppose as long as the optical cable isn't yanked out, it won't degrade the performance.

Thanks,
Sany.

Harman Kardon 440, 640 and 740 AV Receivers

I have read an awful lot of good stuff about these receivers. Just have a few questions. I'm planning on buying a nice home theatre system in the near future. I've been researching for a while now and i've come up with the following:

Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR803 Front: 2 x Aperion Intimus 532-LR Center: Aperion Intimus 533-VAC Rear: 2 x Aperion Intimus 422-LR Sub: Aperion Intimus S-10

Will these speakers be a good match for the onkyo receiver i've chosen? Should I go with Intimus 532-LR's on the rear instead of 422-LR's? Any other advice or comments are very much appreciated. I just recently got the 422 HT system and separately bought an open box SR602 for $ 256. Everything has been great so far but just encountered a problem today. I wanted to use the Video4 inputs for my Karaoke mic (stereo audio and composite video). Audio was fine but I don't see the picture in my TV.
I checked the manual and it says that this model do not support video upconversion, so composite video and S-video sources are not output by the component video out.
I then tried connecting a composite cable from the TV to AV receiver monitor out but I have no idea what settings I should make to make it work. Please help....

Reciever to choose b/w Yamaha, HK & Den

Friends,

As I am waiting for my 633.
