    CD Player

Hey all. I wanted to start a post for people to write what hardware they use to listen to CDs/LPs/internet music. I am personally interested in getting another player to help relieve some of the strain of CD playing from my Oppo 981 and was wondering what everybody else uses. I love the 981 and I highly recommend it but I was thinking of getting a second player for CDs only. In any case I was considering either an older pioneer elite DVD player with good DACs since I use the analog audio out with the older receiver or the Oppo 980 which is the same as the 981 without the video processor and can be had for cheaper than the 981. Anyway I'd be interested in what you guys use with which connections.
    Speakers: Aperion 6T's, 6C, 4B's, and 8D
Receivers: Onkyo 805 and Pioneer SX-1050
    DVD player: Oppo 981HD
    TT: Pioneer PL-71
    Amp Selector: Niles DPS-1

I've enjoyed my PS3, actually.  It's an early model 60GB that plays DVDA and SACD.  Running everything over HDMI.

    Jason -

You may want to consider this CD-only player, Onkyo DX7555. Available for $399 if that's not out of the price range you are considering.

Excellent Stereophile review here - http://www.stereophile.com/cdplayers/108onk/

I am putting together a 2 channel only system in my library and I am considering the DX7555 myself.

I am using an OPPO 971H now in that room.  I can't make up my mind whether to go CD-only or buy a quality, more universal disc player.

I started out just cobbling together some older equipment I had sitting around but the usual upgrade bug has bitten me.   Smile

Right now I am using an older Onkyo TX-SR702 receiver and connect the Oppo to the Onkyo via optical.

Thinking about an integrated amp from NAD or separates down the road and I just bought some Spendor S3/5R speakers used on Audiogon. I'll be listening near field and the Spendors are supposed to be excellent for that.
