    6B, 5T, or 6T...help me decide!

First off let me say that I've always preferred a monitor/sub combo over towers. But I'm getting the itch to try something new. My present system is superb, but the itch is still there. My room is 13x32x7 (3,000cuft). I currently have dual Velo SPL-1200R subs so bottom end is not an issue. I listen to approx. 50% HT & 50% 2 channel. All the user reviews on the Aperion line are all outstanding & I don't think you can make a bad decision. Should I try the towers or stick with the monitor? Would I gain anything from the towers since I have the dual Velo's? This is always the tough part...decisions, decisions!!

It's not so much about towers replacing the need for a sub, it's about their ability to "fill out" the freq range when listening to music.

If you listen to that much music, I'd go with towers, and because of your size of room (do you have it set up to where your screen is on the short wall?  or the long wall?), I'd say go with 6T's.  If you're <13 feet from the screen, like if it's on the longer wall, then 5T's would probably suit you just fine.

But you're right...tough to make a bad decision here.

    Hi Pearsall,

I've had both the 5T's and 6T's, but not the 6B's. My room is approximately the same size in sq feet (22x14x10 = 3080). I had the 5T's for 8 months and decided to upgrade to the 6T's because I wanted to use the year trade up program. I sit 12 feet away from the towers and I can tell you there is a substantial difference between the 5T's and 6T's. The 5T's are great....the 6T's are amazing. Even if you wish to cross them at 60hz (like I do) or 80hz (per thx) you'll notice a substantial difference in the mids between the two sets with the 6T's having a fuller midrange. I haven't heard the 6B's but the reviews are equally great. Remember you can test them yourself for 30 days risk free.

    Hope that helps,

    Jason
