    Aperion Towers and vibrations

So I just started researching more about soundproofing and sound reduction in an attempt to reduce as much sound as possible going to my neighbors.  I just purchased the Auralex Gramma ISO platform (http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-AUR-GRAMMA-LIST) that I will use with my subwoofer.  Apparently, from the reviews, this platform not only reduces the vibrations going into the floor and walls, it also seems to make the sound sound better!  So with that in mind, I was wondering if the 6Ts (or any of the towers) transfers much vibration to the floors?  If so, I would like to get a couple more of these platforms for the fronts that I have.

That's the whole idea behind the floorspikes we give you with the 6Ts, they acoustically decouple the speaker from the floor and reduce vibration.

Would platforms be better?  Perhaps, but I don't have any first hand experience using them with the 6Ts myself.

Okay, it is good to know that there is a way to isolate the vibrations.  So I have put the spikes on the bottom of the 6Ts since day 1, but my speakers are on carpet, does that detract from any possible reduction in vibrations and were the spikes for mainly hardwood flooring?  Or using the spikes on any surface is okay?

The floorspikes raise the speaker off the hard surface underneath the carpet so they are effective in decoupling the speaker for folks that have carpeting too.

How do you prevent the spikes from marring the finish on a hard wood floor, please?

    Thanks!

    Hey DP,

You have to use the small saucers they sent you with the spikes. You have to put the spike on with somebody holding the speaker off the ground and slide the saucer under it. There aren't any rubber spikes for the towers. It ended up being such a pain that I just set my 6T's on the floor. :)

Well the speakers will arrive Tuesday by FedEx ground. No idea what time they deliver but I will probably come home from work in the mid-afternoon to get a start on it. It's too bad they don't provide the same things for the tower speakers. I presume also none for the 5DB on i29 stands. Fewer neighbor problems is better!
