I want to get a blu-ray player but trying to decide between the top 2 players. My kids are young 8 and 10 and we don't allow them to play all those fighting games and they already have a wii system. Is the PS3 a better blu-ray player than the BDP-S350? I like the price on that blu ray also. I know with all gaming systems if you want more controllers that is extra, memory extra, games are very high price too. What do you recommend?

If you're not buying games, the price of games is a non-factor.  And, there's no "memory" to buy on a PS3.

 

Unless you're a major enthusiast, my opinion is that the PS3 is still the best bang-for-the-buck Blu-Ray player out there, even if you never play a game on it.  Decodes codecs, older ones play SACD, auto-updates firmware, etc.  Pretty foolproof.

 

If you're gonna get a stand-alone Blu-Ray, I know many recommend Panasonic's offerings, and many are waiting for the new Oppo product(s) to be released.

It is likely to be $499 from what I've read and will play DVD-A's and SACD's if you're into that. Also I'd be careful of the PS3 if you use a universal remote as the PS3 uses bluetooth and is not compatible with any other remotes.

Forgot to mention the remote thing.  I actually don't mind the additional remote.  I only need it when watching a movie, and even then, not that much.  

I'd go with PS3, especially since it has HDMI 1.3 and capable of playing video games.
