    Insulation behind new in-wall speakers?

I am interested in buying the new 6-LCR in wall speakers for a dedicated home theater in the basement of a new house.  I will be building the walls myself, and I am just wondering how to get the best sound from the new Aperion in-walls.  Should I place insulation behind them?  Should I box them in the wall with plywood behind the speakers?  Or, were the speakers designed for a certain type of installation?  Thanks.

Hello Caleb and welcome to the forum!

The 6-LCRs, like the 6-IW, are what we call an open baffle design and are not intended to have anything behind them.  I don't recommend constructing a box as it can introduce buzzing from the vibrations of the speaker, but if you would like to place insulation behind the speaker in can beef up the bass response a bit and even if it doesn't it should not compromise its performance.

I hope that helps but please let us know if you have any other questions, thanks!
