Receiver not taller than 6.5in with 4 HDMI? Sony ES STRDA2400ES or Pioneer VSX 1019AH-K

Looking for a receiver no taller than 6.5 in.

    Looking for 4 HDMI inputs.

I have found the Sony ES STRDA2400ES which is a year or so old which is being discounted heavily online.

I have also found the Pioneer VSX 1019AH-K. This is new receiver that has gotten excellent reviews for a 500 receiver.

Would you go with an older Sony ES line or a new Pioneer (not Elite) receiver?

     Thanks!

Does it have to be a receiver?  Just thinking outside the box, but what about something like a pre/pro from Emotiva...the UMC-1 is less than 4" high.  You have to run separate amp(s), but you haven't indicated what you're really looking for other than the height requirement.  Price, room size, the reason why you need it to be short, etc.

If it has to be a receiver, I'd also recommend looking at the Marantz slimline receiver, the NR1501. Audioholics recently did a review, which you can find here:

Here's an H/K with four HDMI inputs that is 6.5" tall:

Forgot to also add that if you have only 6.5" of space, it's good to have some clearance above the receiver for proper ventilation; is it 6.5" of space, or do you have a bit more than that?

Thank you so much for the advice.

I never looked at Harmon Kardon. I did find the Marantz, but I dont know if there is enough juice in it.

As for the height, I probably have another half inch to inch once the receiver is inside the cabinet.

With a limit in the size of your receiver, you're going to have to sacrifice something, and power is usually it.  There's nothing small about high-power amp sections.  The pre/pro idea allows you to place an outboard amp elsewhere and preserve the size requirement in that particular space.
