    Selling refurbish items as new

I am writing this post because I am so tired of the practice a lot of companies are doing and to let you all know this so you could watch out for. I bought an item from XXX company and when it arrived, it looked obvious that it did not come factory sealed because of the condition of the box and how many times they taped the box. Upon opening it, there is a little sticker inside saying “Inspected by XXX Company”. Upset of the cheesiest attempt to pull a fast one, I called the company up and asked about the situation, they said that “Oh, we inspect everything we sell”. Yeah, right, you mean you are trying to get rid of your refurbish items, I replied. Then the customer service person, was a bit stumbled and said, no we really test everything we sell. Then I asked her, so you are telling me that you get truck loads of shipment from your distributor and you have the man power to open all of them up and perform this test for your customers free of charge, and she said yes. I then asked her that, shouldn’t the manufacturing people test the products before they boxing them up? And she couldn’t give me an answer. At that point, I ask for an RMA for a return. Now, I do not know 100% that this company is actually testing all their products or not, but what do you think? I think this is an attempt to cheat their customers by passing returned products as new. By the way, this is illegal. When they sell refurbish products, they must say so. Now, I am sure they have brand new boxes they can put the used item in and they have ways to make used products appear brand new again, but check your product with a magnifying glass, and if you see anything suspicious, return it right away and NEVER deal with that company again.

Ummm.. Ok?!?! Thought that was pretty much common sense to check your purchase over carefully especially when sent in the mail. That's not the "white van speakers" is it?? Jk, hope everything works out for you.

Aperion Audio did this exact scenario to me twice. One on a 10 inch sub and center channel. They did have the "Inspected by Aperion" also. Though, when I bought a full system with them, all boxes were sealed.
