Hi all,
I bought the 10th Anniversary Deal speaker system and was faced with a dilemma...I didn't have anything large enough for the 6C center channel so I decided to build my own. Here's a little background leading up to that though.
I've been in the US Navy 22 years. Mostly what I've used in the past were Bose Lifestyle systems (because they're really, really, easy to move). About four years ago I was in Okinawa, Japan and there was an open-box buy on a Yamaha YSP-800 soundbar for $250. I bought it for my stateroom on the Aircraft Carrier and somehow it's become my home system for the last few years.
Last July I got stationed in Naples, Italy and we finally blew out several of the speaker arrays in the Yamaha so my wife gave me the go ahead to buy a new system. Here's what I ended up with:
Sony 52 inch LCD
Denon AVR-3310CI ($750 from Amazon, list price $1500...seemed like a good deal)
Aperion 10th Anniversary System (6B's, 6C, 5DB's and 10D Sub)
Unfortunately while researching, realized my current config was not going to cut it.
So now I've built this stand around my 6C. I've used nothing but solid ash. The last thing to do today is to get a piece of italian marble to use for the top.....oh, and then I've got to receive the speakers. They were shipped on June 22nd and it's absolutely killing me that I don't have them yet. My soundbar is totally distorted and even my wife is saying it's driving her crazy. Everyday I check the mail on base and get a little sadder.
