    4T & C - Upgrade to 5's or Fortes?

Currently I'm running 4Ts, 4C, & 4Bs with a HSU VTF-3-MK4 for my 5.1 setup.  While I love the setup I still feel something is lacking in the midrange and mid-bass frequencies.  I'm looking to upgrade the towers and center channel to help with this, but am having trouble deciding between the Intimus 5 series or the Verus Fortes.  Just wondering if anyone has any experience or other input upgrading from the 4 series.  My current setup rocks plenty for movies, but I find myself using for music 90% of the time, and that's where the midrange weakness is apparent.  I always use the sub when listening to music, either in 2.1 configuration for stereo recordings or 5.1 for concert Blu-Rays, so extreme bottom end on the towers is not a concern.  Also, I have this set-up in a large room, 1000 sq ft basement, however in the theater/listening area I am seated 10ft from the speakers with a wall behind me an additional 4ft back.

I'm currently running a 5T/5C/4BP setup with a HSU STF-2, and it sounds terrific across all frequencies. I started with 4Ts in front and upgraded to the 5Ts a few months ago and the improvement was pretty noticeable in my smaller room (~150 sq ft with vaulted ceilings). I haven't had any listening experience with the Fortes for comparison, but I'm told that 5Ts have more room-filling capability, which might be a consideration for your setup.

    Hello there,

Sure you have a huge basement, but if you are only sitting 10 feet away and have a wall right behind you to catch reflections from, I would lean toward the Forte set up as I prefer the Verus tweeter for music myself.

Having said that you will get a nice bump in midrange performance from the 5T/5C in comparison with the 4T/4C, so either way you will see an improvement.

    I hope that helps!
