    Pioneer vs. Onkyo

I just upgraded the speakers in my HT setup to 4 422's and the 533 VAC. I am also running a Paradigm 10in powered sub. I am currently using a Pioneer VSX-d811s (one step down from the Elite models) rated at 100w/ch x6 at 1 kHz to run the whole system. While this receiver is feature-rich, I can tell from listening I'm not taking advantage of how good these speakers really are. I am considering purchasing an Onkyo 602 (dirt cheap refurb at J&R). Even though this reciever is only rated at 85w/ch, I think that I would get much better performance out of the Aperions because the power rating is over the entire spectrum 20-20000Hz. Does anyone have any feedback about this idea? I'm assuming that the "guts" of the Onkyo are much better than the Pioneer as well. I have also considered the HK335, but the Onkyo seems like a better value. Any other suggestion out there? Any input would be greatly appreciated. The room that the HT is in is a basement about 14ftx14ft.
