Need advice concerning a 422-LR/534-SS combo

Two questions really. First, is this a reasonable combo for a 5.1 system? Im considering using the 422's as my fronts, the 422 C, the 534's as my side surrounds and the S-8. Secondly, could I drive this system with a pioneer 1015tx or the new jvc702? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Julius

Hi Julius. The 422's are great for fronts and the 534-SS are great for surrounds. But together, you'll notice that the 534-SS are quite a bit larger than the 422's. I usually wouldn't recommend this combo (I prefer the 422's as surrounds in this case). BUT if you're truly a dipole/bipole speaker fan, then go for it. They use the same tweeters and HDX3 crossover technology, so they are a close enough sonic match.

I would get the Pioneer receiver. But that's just because I've heard a lot more customers talking about/using it. The JVC is too new for me to have any feedback on. Maybe someone else might.

    Cheers,
