    Room Size / Speaker Choice

I am planning on buying a set of Aperions for my family room and I wanted to get feadback on speaker choice. The speakers will be used for movies / music - 60/40. I have read great things about the 422-LR and 532-LR speakers. The general consensus seams to be that the 532-LR are better if you want fuller sound when listening to music as the 422's are a bit lacking in this area.

I haven't made a final decision on which receiver to purchase but so far I like the Denon AVR-2807.

    Room:
14' x 14' but open to another room of the same size.

    Speakers:
Fronts: 422-LR or 532-LR (Prob the latter)
    Center: 533-VAC
    Rear: 422-LR
    Sub: S8-APR (I think)

I definitely want to be able to crank the bass when needed. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the S8-APR. I have read that this is a faster sub which is good for music. Can this sub deliver the lows or would I be better off with the S-10?

    Thanks in advance!

for bigger bass, go with the 10 or 12. I used the S-8 for a couple years and was perfectly happy with it, but there were times that it couldn't keep up. For me it was fine because I'm more interested in the musical performance.

Hi Sean, Just one recommendation, get the Denon. I recently received for demo, 532LR fronts, a 533VAC center with 422 surrounds). Also I bought i29 stands for the 532s. This is driven by an Onkyo SR604. I have a 12' E250P JBL sub as well. The problem I am having is that compared to my old JBL bookshelf speakers (driven my a Harmon Kardon receiver), the 532s are sounding a bit thin in the mid-tones and bright in the highs. I would think that this may be due to the receiver as I have read in several forums that Harmon and Denon have a more laid back sound. I also have a large room (13x22 and open to a kitchen behind that) and it is possible that the 532s are too small to handle the size of the room. Unfortunately, I can not return the Onkyo as it might be part of the problem.

Jason, what you are hearing is probably the Onkyo.  I brought home both an Onkyo and H/K to pair with my Aperions.  To my ears, the highs in the Onkyo were just shrill.  The H/K presentation was so much smoother.  I have also owned Denon in the past, but not with Aperion, also great sound and again on the 'warmer' or more polite side.
