    Surround comparision

I have posted this thread on avsforum too. Have you guys compared the following surrounds. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Rocket RSS300

    Axiom QS8

    Aperion 533 SS

Currently I have Athena P5 as surrounds. I am planning to repalce my mains and center in couple of months.

    Hi Ramesh,

I have not had the chance to listen to either the Rocket or Axiom surrounds, but from looking online, they look comparable to our 534ss.  The Rocket RSS300 seem to be a very similar design from our 534ss (Driver size).  Our 534ss are switchable from dipole to bipole mode as well.  The Axiom QS8 is an interesting design with the single 5 1/4" driver on the bottom.  I would tend to think that if you must place your surrounds higher up on the wall, the QS8 would be a good choice.  Both the Axiom and Rocket look like nice surround speakers, but with out having listened to both, my opinion doesn't help out your situation. Ultimately your personal preference and opinion is what counts the most.  I have a pair of the 534ss speakers at home and I love them.  Switching from (in a 5.1 set up) the 532lr's to the dipole/bipoles really gave my smaller theater room a more enveloping surround experience.

I don't pretend to understand your situation or timing, but if you are going to replace your mains and center in a couple of months, I would not make a decision on the surrounds until you researched the mains and center as well (you will want to evaluate the system as a whole).
