Connecting Challenge for LCD TV to Audio Device

I have an audio-wiring hook-up problem that I cannot identify.
I have a new LCD HDTV and a 5.1 channel audio home theater system that I cannot get any decent audio from.
After reading the manuals and trying a couple of other things, I just can't figure it out ! @#*X#*^ Yikes !
I need any possible solution and certainly any help or idea out there.
Here are the input panels for your review:

    Video Source: Mfg'd April 07
    HDTV LCD Element Electronic FLX-1910 ( elementelectronics.com )
    the back panel has:
    1-Composite Video Input Terminal
    1-S-Video Terminals
    1-set Component Video Input Terminals
    1-VGA/PC Audio (L/R) Input Terminals
    1-HDMI Input
1-Set of Audio (L/R) output terminals for composite C-Video/S-Video
    1-Coaxial Output Terminal
    1-Headphone Terminal

    Audio Source:
RCA RT 2760 5.1 Channel Home Theater Sound System
The back panel has digital input:

    1-DVD/DVR Coaxial (DVD/COAX)
    1-TV Analog ( TV/ANL)
    1-Sat*Cab Optical (SAT/OPT)
    1-AM/FM Built-in-tuner
    1-VCR Analog (VCR/ANL)
    1-USB Digital
    1-Line-in Line-in

note: Optical & Coaxial input is only avail. for DVD & SAT

    Source / Available Input
    TV / Analog /-/-
    VCR / Analog /-/-
    Line In / Analog /-/-

These are the plug-in panels for each set.

In the old days we use to trick cable tv with a vcr for a strong stereo sound and then you were rocking..............anything new tricks like that ???

    I'll try any suggestion offered

I tried the coaxial audio out from the tv into the dvd coaxial input and pressed the dvd selector on the front of the receiver without success.
Basically what I'm trying to do is feed the audio from the tv into the receiver.
If I need another device like a dvd player or vcr to accomplish this then that'll be fine
If it's worth noting...new hdtv's produce a digital sound signal and alot of receivers produce analog signals and are generally uncompatible. So, if you could speak to this possibility and any way to circumvent it would be appreciated.

my original reference to the old days of audio tricks like taking a old tv wiith a cable box and a vcr, then introducing stereo sound by plugging the receiver through the vcr to get a decent sound because tv's only had an antenna receptacle.

perhaps there are new ways to overcome any incompatability between digital & analog signals .

I hope this helps explain.......if not........I'll try again.

    thanks in avance again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Connecting Challenge for LCD TV to Audio Device

Thank you for your question.  What are your sources?  Do you have a cable or satellite tv box?  Typically if you have a cable box, you would come out of the co-ax (SPDIF) output and directly into the co-ax digital input on your RCA system.  Then you would plug an analog (RCA) cable from the cable box audio output into your tv if you wish to sometimes use the speakers built into your tv.  Lastly, you would connect the video of your cable box to your tv.  This is typically done with either component video cables, or HDMI if your tv and cable box are so equipped.

The reason you did not get sound out of the digital co-ax output on the back of your tv is that it is not active unless you are using the HDMI input.  In this particular instance if your cable box has an HDMI output, you can plug directly into the tv and then use the digital co-ax output to get the sound to your RCA stereo system.

I hope this helps, if you need further assistance please give us a call at 888-880-8992

     Thanks,
