My 805 never shut down, but I want it to last well past the 2-year warranty.
I am driving 8 Aperions with the 805.
I only have 1.5 inches clearance between the top of the 805 and the glass plate above, so air circulation is restricted.
With the (2) 12v 92mm fans running at 5VDC and watching TV the temp gets up to 86 degrees.
When I mute the system I can barely hear the fans with my ear within 6 inches of the AVR and this is what I was looking for.
I switched to CD and cranked it up to +5db relative where +18db is Max. I have cranked it to 18db, but I need to leave the room or wear earplugs.
Even at max volume the Aperion’s still sound clear and undistorted with the 805.
I turned on My Sony, which drives my other (2) Front Aperion L/R’s and after one hour of play with the Sony only running for the last half hour, the Sony was 105 degrees and the 805 was at 99 degrees.
It does not take a lot to cool the 805 as my tests have proven, but I think it is a good idea if you drive it hard and I do.
I have my fans placed so they exhaust air from the top of the AVR and not blow into the AVR.
