    Home Theater Photos

I've tried this before and I couldn’t get the photos to work but thought I would try again.   These are photos of the home theater I built.   It started as storage space in our basement, needless to say we get much more use out of it now.

I’m running my Aperion speakers through a NAD T763 AVR and NAD 2200 power amp.   The display is a BenQ PE7700 on a 100' screen.

I also made sound panels using acoustic ceiling tiles, backing material, and covered them with fabric.  They may not be scientific but they did take a certain amount of "harshness" out of the room.  All in all I’m very satisfied with the results.  Let me know what you think.

That looks really nice!  Bet you spend a lot of time in there Smile.

Did you experiment with the sound panel placement?  I was surprised to see them higher than your speakers (which I assume is also higher than your ear when you're sitting down.

Thanks -- we get down there time permitting but not as much as I would like.

Regarding the sound panels, I did play around with them a bit and didn’t find that much difference with varies placements.  I was originally going to make additional panels to sit lower on the walls but decided against it after these went up.  Before the panels the room was pretty hard – sheet rock walls/ceiling and leather furniture so the panels made a fairly substantial difference in sound quality.  When looking at placement points along the wall I did try to factor in reflection points and speaker placement but I didn’t go crazy working out the math.  I found some good reference material on the web that helped calculate (rough estimates) the required square footage of panels and placement factors.

I'm certain the room would benefit from additoinal tweaking but I'm pretty happy with how its come together so far.

    That's a very nice setup.
