    angled walls and speaker placement

The H's indicate my speakers.  I have two 533-t's a 634vac (ordered it) and an S12 sub. (the other speakers are currently crappy Kenwoods)

This is my current setup, the left side is open, and the back has two 45 degree angle walls.

I am trying to decide if 534ss's would work next to those angled walls for my side surrounds or if I should go with the 632's

                    thanks for any help,

    Joseph,

I have the 534’s as surround and they look good on a sidewall installation since I think they blend aesthetically with the room more than a box speaker.

I had a pair of 422’s for surround but I did not like that box look on the sidewall. The 422’s are now rear surround.

The 534’s are only 6 and 7/8 inches deep where the 632’s are 13 and 1/8 inches deep.

I like the 534’s and switch between Bi/Dipole just to experiment.

    Jack,

Thanks for the reply!  Sounds like they would look good there.  As for the sound, do you think it would be affected negatively by the angled walls they will be right next to?  Especially the left one, having no wall on one side of it and a wall at a 45 degree angle on the other?

    Joseph,

I have seen some setups that use the 534’s as rear surround. I think you will be fine with your setup. You may want to play a bit with the placement and maybe push them a bit in back somewhat closer to the rear surround.

I do think that even at an angle mounted parallel to your listening area they will sound good. The Bi/Di switching can give some great sound effects. I switch between the settings to achieve different sounds.

You may want to experiment with placement before mounting permanently. I now have the 534’s mounted with the bottom of the speaker 54 inches from the floor where previously they were about 40 inches from the floor.
