    Onkyo 606 vs Sony 920

    Hi guys,

I am looking for at onkyo 606 or sony 920 to go with the 4T hybrid speakers.

Everyone here seems to love the onkyo and not so much on the sony... feature wise they are similar.. with sony maybe edging out on 1080p upconversion, gui, etc...  component / power wise.. onkyo probably has the upper hand.

the tricky point is that... i have couple hundred dollars worth of sony gift cert.. and basically can have 920 without costing me a dime..  and onkyo.. i have to pay 350-400 myself.

so... is onkyo worth it? or sony will do?

    thanks

I like Onkyo products but it is hard to argue with FREE!

Re: Onkyo 606 vs Sony 920

From my research and from what people have said, Onkyos have better electronics and from someone who has come from a Sony to an Onkyo, I totally agree.  The THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is lower on the Onkyos versus the Sony's.  I was originally planning on getting the Sony 1200 (I believe that was the model number) because of the features it has, but was talked out of it by the sales guy because he said the Onkyos have traditionally been better sounding.  After hearing it for myself, I'm glad I did buy the Onkyo.  I ended up with an Onkyo TX-SR875 and couldn't be happier with it.  I would suggest using the Sony gift certifications for a PS3 if you don't already have one or perhaps a camcorder or something.
