My receiver has only 1 crossover setting

    Hi,

I have a 7.1 Intimus 4T Hybrid system coming.    My HT space is 11' W (4Ts on this wall) x 13' L x 6.75' H.  My receiver only has 1 crossover freq., settable in 10Hz steps, for all SMALL speakers in the system.  According to the Aperion docs, I should set the 4Ts & 4Bs to 80Hz & the 4C to 100Hz.  Since I won't be able to do this I was thinking of initially setting the receiver crossover to 90Hz.  Does that sound right?  I know I need to play with this & the 8D to adjust to my HT space, but is that a reasonable starting point.  I have been doing a lot of reading on accoustics, so I think I have the general idea.

    Thx,

    Dean

THX specifies 80HZ regardless.  I read a really good article a few months ago.  Can't remember where it was but it explained why 80Hz was selected.  The reasons are much more complicated that you might think.  The 4C is down 3db at 80Hz but I don't think that will hurt much.  If the center is lacking a bit of bass try experimenting with the parametric equalization on the sub.  Set the equalization center freq at 80 or maybe 70 and the width to narrow and the boost to +3.  There is a lot of things to experiment with but first just set the crossover to 80 and see what you think.  I find the tinkering with the setting part of the joy of the system.

    Cheers

I second the opinion of Russ here....start at 80 Hz and see how it goes. I have experimented myself, and found that nothing was better than 80.

Good Luck, and have fun. Aperions are the shiznitz!
