• Re: Could the Emotiva XPA-5 overload my Aperions?

mgvsev: I've been looking at adding an xpa-5 for my pair of 6T's, 5C and future aperion surrounds, but I'm only runninng an Onkyo 605 at the moment.....is this receiver capable of being hooked up to an amp such as the xpa-5 or am I looking at having to upgrade my receiver before going with an amp like this? the problem is, I ...

  • Re: Buzz or Hum

I have a pre-slim PS3 (AKA fat) connected via HDMI and have had no such problems. To troubleshoot, I suggest watching a regular DVD using your PS3 and see if you hear the same noise. -Nick

  • Re: Looking at in-wall speakers

I'm no Guru, but like you said, the in-walls probably won't be in the same league as your tried and true bookshelf speakers. But, they should capably serve your purpose of striking a balance between WAF and quality sound. You have a good sized room, so I suggest swapping out the 6-IW with a 6-LCR for your center (unless you ...

  • Re: Any metalheads here want to talk?

Hmm, I wasn't even aware that a new Megadeth album had come out. I admit I kind of lost interest in Megadeth after Cryptic Writings- they started sounding too sterile and very few songs on that album did anything for me (so, that was the last album of theirs that I bought). But thanks for the heads up on Endgame. I think ...

  • Re: Good movie to check out your surround sound

Oliver Amnuayphol:Cool, can't wait! Just watched a minute of Transformers 2 yesterday as well, looks like decent entertainment. Will try to watch the whole thing today, but so far sound and picture seem really, really good. I saw Transformers 2 this weekend and agree the sound was excellent- lots of surround effects and deep bass. The ...

  • Re: Bought a new condo

Congrats PJ! Since your living area will be significantly larger than your current place, it was excellent planning on your part to get the XPA-3 (much to the chagrin of your neighbors). -Nick

  • In-wall Freq Response

I'm considering replacing my rear surrounds with a pair of 6-IW, and noticed that the frequency response on the website differs slightly from the freq response in the downloadable user manual. Specifically, the website lists the freq response for the 6-IW as 70Hz - 22kHz, while the manual lists the response as running from 50Hz - 22kHz ...

  • Re: iTunes import formats

Like PJ, I too import everything using Apple Lossless. I also keep my CDs for backup (and for my old car stereo that I can't hook my iPod to).

  • Re: Surround Help!

I'd go with the second option you laid out above (pair of 5DBs for side surround and pair of 6-IWs for rear surround). My rationale is, it's possible you'll move the couch slightly forward or back over time (for example, if you get a larger/smaller treadmill) and you don't want to be stuck with permanent in-wall side ...
