Top on Russ,
Those are actually extremely important settings. As well as the test tones. A receiver can be plugged anywhere and when connected to speakers the receiver will make sound. Only when we tell it exactly how far each speaker it to your listening position AND go thought the time to level the test tone volumes (using a decibel ...

Transformers is a great movie for that deep voice test. If you have Master and Commander laying around queue up the cannon ball scene and right when they give a below deck view with the camera angle see if the footsteps happening at the deck level of the ship sound like they're coming from the upstairs of your home. One of my favorite ...

It only gets better.
I am on month ten of my ownership experience and can only say good things about my Aperion system. I would echo your statement about not finding better sound without spending multiple times the money.
Depending on your listening spectrum a stronger center channel can improve your experience. Personally I ...

In a former life I worked at the Guitar Center selling recording equipment. This gave me the chance to sample multiple brands of headphones from Sennheiser to Beyer. Honestly for the money AT or Audio Technica has some seriously impressive gear. For 25 to 40 percent less than similar items of different manufacturers AT delivered comparable ...

Hi all,
Thought I would share a good product experience here with everyone. I know the Media Center idea is an old one. A device that would be transparent on the network taking network streams and displaying them in HD, possibly recording television shows for you to the internal hard drive, remote control, and a quite small chassis that wouldnt ...

Harmony:
Pro's
They are a product that a mortal with no knowledge of remotes can program
They handle toads well. A toad is a Toggle Off And ...

Thanks for the tip. If there is a Home Theater Store near CT I will pay them a visit. That is less than I thought they would be. With a six series upgrade your midrange should be more robust. Can I ask what source material and what amp or receiver they chose to audition you on?

Something really neat happens with inwall speakers. The whole wall starts to resonate. If all your speakers are inwall then great but if you have a beefy front array, which you do, then the sound may present differently from rears and sides to the front. In fact it will. Especially if your walls and the stud bays that you locate the speakers in ...

Thank you for the correction Jack. I see that Onkyo and NAD share at least one common component.
To be honest I have not looked in the direction of Onkyo in two years due to bad experiences. I know I will piss some happy Onkyo owners off here by speaking my mind about them so I will apologize in advance. Onkyo is a brand that I associate ...

A retailer carrying Dynaudio? Thats amazing. Dynaudio is a highly regarded speaker manufacturer. When I was single digits in age my brother and I built some DIY speaker cabinets using Dynaudio, Morel and Vifa components. Back in the days when Hafler sold kit amplifiers. Dynaudio quietly sells complete solutions for home and car audio. Having yet ...
