I have to agree with PJ.  3 1/2 hrs is way too long regardless of the storyline.  I begged for this movie to end.  Now Wolverine, that's was pretty damn cool.

I have two 10D's and have little noise coming from either one.  I have the sub volume on my AVR set to +5db, and the sub volume at +3db.  If I crank the sub volume to their maximum setting, I can certainly hear hiss.  But obviously that's not their ideal position. The rubber bumpers are included with your 5DB and you manually attach them to the speaker itself (they have a sticky back).  I think you may need to mock up a floor plan for us.  Not sure I fully picture "same plane as the front speakers"?
