Yes side walls cause problems as well. I try to keep mine a couple of feet from the back wall and even more from the sides. Dop you have any options to rearrange the room? I know the wall mounted TV make that difficult.

I have my AVR sub out set to +12, it's default. I run the 8D at around -3. I have the crossover at 100 in the AVR. I have the sub EQ set to narrow, 80Hz, and -5db to handle a positioning problem. Make sure the power cable and input cable are not in close proximity, if they have to be make sure they cross at a 90 degree angle. If neither of those help try turning dow the volume on the sub and turning the sub level up a corresponding amount in the AVR.

I should think the 4Bs would work fine for the height speakers. Of course the 4BPs might be very interesting indeed considering the width of your room.
