I tried it. Nope, didn't work. The concept was good but that's about it. Two problems. First, I couldn't mount them directly to a stud so I used the anchors they provided into the drywall. With the 5B hanging on it you could see the top anchor start to pull away from the wall. If you mount these into a ceiling it would ...

I use 5Bs in the rear. Now they're sitting inside of an open area about 9' up (there's nowhere else to put them). I have them wedged to aim down but I need to angle them down more but I'm afraid they'll topple over. I'd like to use mounts in the side wall that would allow me to move the speakers up a bit so I can angle them ...

A friend of mine wants to hook up a home theater system. He has a Sony LCD so he's OK there. He currently has a DVD player and his cable receiver plugged directly into the Sony via HDMI inputs.
For speakers I'm clearly pointing him toward Aperion. His room is odd. The area that has the TV and will have the other components is about 15x10 ...

I've been using Best Buy's Rocketfish wireless speaker transmitter/receiver with a pair of 5B's in the rear with no problem at all. There's a microwave oven about 10 feet from the receiver and there's a wireless network. No interference.

They aren't there to listen to quality audio are they? They're there to drink your beer, eat your food and win your money. BTW, when and ...

Another alternative is to terminate the existing wires at a wall plate that would act as a coupler for the extension. A bit more expensive than soldering the extensions (or using nuts as suggested) but if you ever move things in the future you'd simply plug in a longer wire.

Thanks guys. I wanted to get a PS3; apparently there's a new/cheaper/slimmer on available on Sept. 1 because it also solved my problem of not having a Blu-ray player. But I was voted down by my wife and my grandsons (5 and 7).
I contacted Yamaha who got back to me fairly quickly and they echoed what Scottiemon said. Now to spend $250 ...

I'm planning on buying a Wii and looked at the manual for my Yamaha RX-V1800 and the online manual for the Wii about connecting everything together.
The Yamaha manual doesn't mention game consoles at all and the Wii manual doesn't mention AVRs. I did a google search on the topic and found some references to HDMI but I didn't think ...
