• Re: New Sub??

The 8D is amazing but is definitely overkill for the space I have now, I bet the 8A could be worth the savings. But most likely I keep the 8D, just was briefly entertaining the option.

Wow that thing looks sweet! I probably would have gotten it over the 8D had it been available. Come to think of it I still have a few days left on my 30 day trial...

  • Re: 5B Fusion or 4T Hybrid ?

Toby, I use an Onkyo 706 with a 5T/5C/4B/8D 5.1 setup, and the 706 has more than enough power to drive those speakers in my room (17x14), I don't think you can go wrong between the 706 and 806, the 806 will obviously give you more head room (not sure how large you said your room was). As for the blue artifacts ("jaggies"), I have ...

  • Re: Looking at a pair of 4t.

Any standard receiver will drive the 6ohm 4Ts without a problem. Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, any of those will work, they should all drive both 6 and 8ohm loads with ease.

  • Re: (Almost) Completed 5T System

Ha, the "almost" referred to the makeshift stands for the 4Bs, I have since mounted them on Omnimount Gemini 1s. Not great, but a satisfactory solution for now. No plans for 7.1 at this time.

PJ - about what percentage movie to music listening do you do? I currently have the 5Ts in a 5.1 system but due to various factors (living with a roommate, having neighbors, etc.) I have found very little time to truly take advantage of their pure two-channel music capabilities, I would estimate currently using the system 85% for ...

  • Re: Added i31 stands to my setup

Yea for the short term I guess I will have to stick with these, hopefully they will hold up over time.

  • Re: Added i31 stands to my setup

Dan:I'm thinking the manufacturers of the stands never thought that a speaker company would actually make a small 4" satellite/surround out of 3/4" HDF. They were probably thinking little orbs or small plastic stuff. This is definitely the case, no chance these were designed for a speaker such as the 4B, which is imo ...

  • Re: Added i31 stands to my setup

I'm not sure about a "security screw" per se, although I did use the 4B's threaded insert to attach it to the gemini with a screw, so maybe that is the security screw. Although I don't feel very secure looking at it lean ever so slightly.

  • Re: Added i31 stands to my setup

Ok so my omnimount gemini 1s came today and I set them up. I think my assessment is much like PJ's of the i31s: these are definitely too flimsy to be any sort of end-all solution to stand-mounting the 4Bs. Yes, I guess they are satisfactory, they seem to hold the speaker in place firmly enough, but they lean ever so slightly, ...
