Just note that the 1 year upgrade credit thing apparently doesn't apply to the subwoofers, so you should buy as big as you think you'll ever need... I know that convinced me to try to find a way to afford the 12D over the 8D.

Oh, you shouldn't have mentioned the velvet! That was such a shock and a pleasure when I first opened the 6T box (which was not trivial to do, solo). :)

I wish I could help you out, but I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable about all the choices. I will say that I think you should get a bigger subwoofer, if you want to feel things kick. I got the 8D and decided I wanted to try a bigger one almost immediately. On the other hand, if you want to let your son sleep... You might have to turn it off ...
