The speakers will be used for movies / music - 60/40. I have read great things about the 422-LR and 532-LR speakers. The general consensus seams to be that the 532-LR are better if you want fuller sound when listening to music as the 422's are a bit lacking in this area.

I haven't made a final decision on which receiver to purchase but so far I like the Denon AVR-2807.

Room:
14' x 14' but open to another room of the same size.

Speakers:
Fronts: 422-LR or 532-LR (Prob the latter)
Center: 533-VAC
Rear: 422-LR
Sub: S8-APR (I think)

I definitely want to be able to crank the bass when needed. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the S8-APR. I have read that this is a faster sub which is good for music. Can this sub deliver the lows or would I be better off with the S-10?

Thanks in advance!

New 422-LRs. Great image, will warmth improve?

Hello all. I just installed a new pair of 422-LRs as my front pair in my home theater setup. The remainder of the system is a middle of the line best buy purchased system. I'm in the process of upgrading on a per-set basis as my budget allows.

First off, let me say I am VERY impressed with the packaging, build quality, and overall solid feel of these speakers. It's obvious this is a high quality product that outshines everything else I have seen or heard in their price range. The hoops Aperion jumps through to make you feel proud to own their products are impressive.

I have my pair set up on the stands Aperion sells. They are centered properly and 17" off the wall, which is 1" behind the face of my TV. The image is excellent, and the speakers sound very clear and clean. Strings are sharp and well defined. My concern is with the overall warmth and fullness of the sound. Right now they are dry and harsh overall for lack of a better way to describe it. I am listening to them with my receiver (a Yamaha HTR-5990) set to Pure Direct with a Sony DVD player playing a normal audio CD. "Pure Direct" is a mode on the Yamaha in which it shuts down all it's audio and video processing systems and acts purely as an amp. In this way they are almost devoid of bass, which I expected in speakers this size. I mention that only so you know I'm not talking about frequency response here. I have never owned speakers that would benefit from a break in period, and I intend to break these in by Aperion's guidelines before making my final judgment. That said, can I really expect much change from them as they break in and loosen up, or are they destined to be forever dry? I assume I will get better answers here from real Aperion owners than I will on an independent forum. Any input is appreciated!

Mixing Aperion Speakers.

I have just put an order in for a 5.1 Speaker setup tonight

It breakdowns like this:

Fronts: I-632LR

Center: I-532-C

Rear: I-422-LR Satelite Speakers.

Sub: I S-10, 10" Sub

I would have bought I-533VAC Center Speaker but I don't have space to fit. I cant make it a wall mount either.

My question is one: is this an "unbalanced system?" Will the 632's over power the dialogue for the 532-C Center speaker?

The satelites are because my couch is flush against the wall and I think the bigger speakers would be too loud and over powering.

Thanks,

New Buyer.

Got a Beta C360, Then I found Aperion.

Ever since I bought a projector I've been on a quest to upgrade my HTIB. Last week I was settled on the Infinity Beta series. So, I went out and made my first speaker purchase, the Beta C360 Center. I really like it.

But that was last week, and this is... now. I was running around a few home theater websites and noticed people raving about the Aperion speakers. So, now i'm thinking about aperion for my Front LR and Rear LR speakers.

I don't want to sell my C360, so do you think the 533PT (FrontLR) and 422LR (Rear LR) would be a good match?

Not only do Aperion speakers seem to be better (according to reviews) but buying from them with security beats trying to find deals on ebay.

Any help is appreciated.

Speaker level adjustemnts

I am curious if there is any recommendation as to wether it is preferrable to attenuate the levels or is it better to bump up the levels to achieve uniform speaker SPL response. Or it doesnt matter ?

For instance i have 532 LRs in the front and 422LR at the side/back. The 532s are clearly louder at the same volume setting than the 422s. I was wondering if i should reduce the front/center levels or increase the levels on the 422 to obtain same SPL readings. I have heard that for EQ-ing, it is always preferrable to attenuate to smoothen out frequence reponse.

B&amp;W 603s ....

Hi all,

I orderd the 422's just to see how the sound was and I have to say, I am impressed. The sound they produced for their size is truly impressive! The problem is they are just not a full range speaker and that is what I truly need. I ordered the 8-APR sub and was not impressed with it as it could not even keep up with 2 channel music, they truly need more power to properly keep up, even a 60 Watt Adcom amp, subs need about 4 times more power than the rest of the speakers to be able to keep up with the demands of movies or even music. I am sure the 8-APR is a fine produce in a small room (12 x 12 or smaller) but anything larger forget it. Really a sub with around 1k watts and up would be what I recommend, that way it is never underpowered.

But this is just my opinion.

I took a set of B&W 603 full size towers home and gave them a full audition, they failed. They have a nice full range, but a little weak on the low bass end ( they tended to over drive slightly, reducing the bass about 10db helped, but didnt cure ) the highs were rich and accurate, but they tended to sound like they ranged from around 6khz and up to around 22khz.(I really liked the way the 422's highs sounded) They lacked (or the crossover may be the issue) a full sound from them, causing the mids to work over time to fill in where they left off. On to the mids, WOW! too much for my tastes! they tended to have a reverb that colored the sound causing them to hurt my ears, and they tended to sound distorted. I pluged the rear ports on the mids and that seemed to help a little, but they were just to HOT for me.

I took the B&W 603's back. They got no sale. Now I really like the way the 800 series sound, but that is way more than I want to spend. I ordered the Aperion 633-T's and I really hope they will appeeze my need for a clean and a clear full range sound with out the need for a sub-woofer.

Does anyone have any comments on this. Does anyone listen to music as critically or more so than me?

Has anyone listened to the B&W's and heard the same things? does the Aperios produce a smother mid range that does not produce the harshness as the B&W's?

Thank you for your comments in advance.

Tom

Whats the deal with the long speaker back order?

I've been waiting for some time to receive my 422 L/R surround sound speakers. Aperion, you're killing me here. What's the status on these speakers? Why is it taking so long for you to get these speakers?
