I have a similar set up (632LR's for fronts, 533VAC center, and 532LR's for surrounds, S10 for sub, 522's for presence--piano black) running on a Yamaha 2700. Have been listening to music most of the day and I am listening to a live Santana CD right now--the Aperion's sound great. I don't think I've enjoyed my CD collection this much in a long time.

Our DVD collection has grown since we got our speakers as well. Great separation: excellent bass, clear and distinct high's and solid midrange.

I'm actually considering up-grading the surrounds to the 534SS because I think they will work better in my space. I can put them up the side walls of the room which should provide a fuller surround.

All I we need now is a new television display!!!

Cheers.

My Speaker Set Up

Hi All,

So I am thinking of selling my 522 satelites that I am using for my "side" rear channels in my 6.1 set-up and replacing them with the dipole/bipole Aperion makes. Good idea? I mainly watch movies by the way.

So if I have a room that is 14x17 ( the longer deminsion being the depth of the theater) Do I place the diple/bipoles pretty much dead center on the sides of the room?

Because the "direct" speakers should be placed more towads the back correct?

Thanks for any tips =)

6.1 speaker compatibility

I bought a pair of 522s along with an S8 sub for stereo a couple years back, and am thinking now of upgrading my HT from a Yamaha set-up to all Aperions. I'm thinking of going with a 632/533 VAC front stage, but would like to use the old (but still nice) 522s for rear surrounds. Also, since my HT amp is 6.1, I need a rear center. Two questions: 1. Will the older 522s be voice-timbre compatible with the new HD X-3 crossovers in the proposed front stage? 2. How would a 534 SS bipole-dipole as rear center work in this set-up? Any opinions or observations would be welcome. Meaning that they won't give support to the center and rear speakers, like the 522D-LR and 522D-C?

My worry of this comes from the thought of a movie where you might have something like a T-Rex stomping from the rear speakers and they won't sound as low as if it came from the front speakers with their 8" subs.

Or do the 533-PT have a spot for connecting the subwoofer out from the reciever so it responds to bass from all channels? Or would I just need to add another 8" subwoofer to the mix?

633-T Tower Speaker - Should I get a pair?

Hey ladies and gents,

I see that Aperion has come out with a new tower and of course I want it! Here's my dilemma. I currently have a 7.1 setup consisting of (2) Power Tower fronts, (1) VAC, (2) 522D-LR surrounds, and (2) Dipole back surrounds and the S-10 subwoofer. I love the look of the new Towers !!!! I was thinking of shifting the Power Towers to the side and bookshelfs to the rear. I would probably trade-in my Dipoles in that my recent move (smaller living room) has lessened their effectiveness.

I know the 633's don't have a powered sub, but my receiver (HK DPR2005) is capable of pushing them. Would I gain anything by adding the new 633's in the front? Of course they are heavier and have more drivers (as a male I often feel ... the heavier the better ....LOL). Caleb from Aperion indicated that I would have a musical improvement, but may want to keep the PT's up front in that I watch more movies. Caleb also told me to poll the audience in that some of you may have some valuable input. Help me out here!!!!!!!!

Speaker Impedance

I just received my Aperion Speakers (4-522 D's and S12 Powered Sub, still awaitning 522D VAC) and have a question surrounding speaker impedance. The speakers are attached to my receiver - Yamaha RXV-2500, and within the GUI automated setup menu the receiver asks to select a speaker impedance (6 or 8 ohms). My question is as follows:

In the Aperion speaker specifications located in the user manual it states that the speakers have a nominal impedance of 6-8ohms...with this being said at what level should I set my receiver's speaker impedance, 6 vs 8 ohms? Thanks in advance for your support.

522D-LR on bracket--OK?

Anybody running a 522D-LR on a B-Tech BT77, Omnimount 20.0 Wall or similar?

Since the 522 is a rear-ported design I worry about possible effect of mounting on the wall (although in my planned use it would probably be angled inward).

I also assume the 522 has connectivity on the back for bracket use?

Any preferences on B-Tech vs. Omnimount?

Getting close

I think I'm down to Aperion 522D-LR or Axiom M3Ti for my 20x15 room.

This is a larger room, 15x20 with a peaked ceiling that starts at about 8.5 feet and runs to about 12 feet high. The speakers are on the long wall. On the left is an 8' by 7' opening to the living room and the back "wall" has a similar opening into the dining room.

The AA's are sounding pretty muddy. I'm thinking of these possible replacements:

--Aperion 522D-LR

--Axiom M3ti

--Athena AS-B2

--Polk Rti6 or Rti4

--Infinity Beta 20

Looking for better definition, solid bass.

Eventually, I may build a surround system around these new bookshelf speakers. I would stay with whatever brand for timbre matching. This would replace a Definitive Pro Cinema 60 surround set in a 20x15x8 living room. (Or wouldn't those candidates improve sound over the Definitives???)

buzz noise

I'm getting a buzz noise from my speakers. I have the 5.1 522 bookshelfls with the s-12 sub, a denon avr-3805 and a denon dvd-1910.

The system was working fine ...
