Unfortunently, while the boss doesn't seem to have a problem with buying almost 2 grand worth of speakers (didn't tell her I also needed a new A/V Receiver...) she does have a problem with rearranging our family room and I'm not allowed in the living room so this is it. Although I do listen to music, I'm mostly concerned with HT performance and the setup I'm looking at is this:

As you can see, I'm going to have an acoustic "issue" with the right side of the room which extends out a total of 35 feet through the kitchen. Obviously, the best solution would be to rotate the arrangement to make the left wall the "front" with the kitchen in the far back. That would almost be a perfect accoustic arrangement but that puts the TV in front of a large picture window. I was all for bricking over the glass but SWMBO disagrees so alas, it will not be.

As there is no decent location for the surrounds to be placed adjacent to the prime seating area (wife vetoed stands) I'm planning on going with the 534-SS speakers on the back wall elevated about 2-3 feet above the sofa. Also, to minimize "clutter" I'm planning on using the 533-PT's in front to eliminate the separate sub.

My questions are these: First, is there any chance at all I'll be able to develop a decent listening environment given the huge sound-sink on the right side? In other words, is it worth investing this much given the architectural constraints? Second, are the 534's the best choice for surrounds in this setup? I'm making a lot of assumptions but would guess that the more diffuse nature of the 534's would be the best option on the back wall and I don't see a decent option for side mounting. Third, are the 533-PT's a good choice for this size of room? For a similar price I could go with the 533-T with an S-10 in the front left corner. The 533-PT's certainly limit my options for ideally locating the subs but I don't know how much of a trade-off this will be. BTW, the Aperion system wizard recommended the 533-PT's AND an S-12 which seems like a bit of overkill. My last question is regarding the A/V receiver. Onkyo is just releasing it's new line of AVR's which make a very big step forward in HDMI technology. There are three potential candidates in this group, the TX-SR705, 805 and 875. The 805 and 875 are rated at 130 and 140W/channel so I'm positive power would not be an issue with them; however, the 705 is only 100W/channel. Given the ratings on the Aperion speakers, I'd think the 100W/channel would be sufficient, any thoughts?

Thanks

533PT or 633T???????

I'm looking for suggestions on which of the two would be better sounding .Let me tell you what I have Sony 60XBR1,on BDI 77inch stand,Onkyo TXDS787 reciever,Velodyne CHT-15 subwoofer,Polk RT55i fronts, polk center ,AM5 II 's Bose surrond and two Bose 151 back surrounds.I watch alot of dvd's and sporting events in HD.Which of the two Aperions towers is better for me.Can I use the base from the sub and the 533PT's would this be practical or would the 633T's be what I need.By the way my set ups in my basement so I have plenty room. The polks is what I'll be replacing front, center speakers.

amplification for Intimus 533-PT towers

Just bought new Aperion Intimus 533-PT towers to use as stereo speakers (may xpand to the full home theater by building around them). Do you think that my old Onkyo TX-SR304S receiver would provide enough power for them or should I look for sth bigger (like TX-SR604 with 105W at 8 ohm)?

Decisions Decisions for a loyal Aperion owner!!! ..... 533-PTs or 633-Ts

I've been an Aperion audio owner for a good while now. I have a 7.1 setup (currently running 5.1) with the 533-PTs anchoring the LF and RF positions, 634-VAC pulling center channel duty, 533-SS pulling SR/SL duty, and S-10 completing the army. The 532-LRs were the SBL and SBR channels, but I had to put them to bed temporarily when I shifted the room.

Here's my issue. I've been looking at the 633-Ts for months now. Ken actually prompted me to consider replacing the 533PTs with the 633Ts. Since I put hardwood floors in my home I've had to turn the bass down on my PTs since I have the S-10 sub. The sound is still stellar with the bass cranked up. However, I don't want to register readings on the local Richter scale and the orientation of the equipment in the room only heightens the bass with the flooring. I feel that the mids get muddied in the bass with the new floors. I’ve bought rugs and put up curtains, but I’m having difficulty finding the perfect levels. I've also begin listening to music a great deal more than I used to. From all indications the 633-T are slightly better equipped for the critical music listener. It has also been brought to my attention that the 634-VAC makes a better pairing with the 633-Ts.

I've decided to sell my 533-PTs with my 532-VAC (now hibernating in the box) Center to purchase the 633-Ts. Do you think this is a good idea? Could some of the Aperion faithful chime in with their thoughts?

Help needed 532 vs 632 vs 533PT

#1: 532L&R+S10 Last week I was settled on the Infinity Beta series. So, I went out and made my first speaker purchase, the Beta C360 Center. I really like it.

But that was last week, and this is... now. I was running around a few home theater websites and noticed people raving about the Aperion speakers. So, now i'm thinking about aperion for my Front LR and Rear LR speakers.

I don't want to sell my C360, so do you think the 533PT (FrontLR) and 422LR (Rear LR) would be a good match?

Not only do Aperion speakers seem to be better (according to reviews) but buying from them with security beats trying to find deals on ebay.

Any help is appreciated.

on the same plane?

Hello fellow aperion enthusiasts. I've been working on subwoofer placement and I got a question. What does it mean exactly to put the sub on the same plane as the front main speakers? I'm confused because it seems as if my 533pt has two planes, since the midrange and tweet fire to the front and the 8" built-in sub fires to the side. Any help would be appreciated.

June Issue Affordable Audio...Including Aperion Review

Affordable$$Audio is pleased to announce that the

I have a RXV 1500, and have changed the front speakers to large, and the sub to none. Is there another step I am missing? Are the L/R speaker cables the only connectors that need to be used? Or am I expecting too much from the built-ins? I am almost positive they (the subs) are not working at all. Is there another setting that should be changed?
