  • Carmina Burana

It's been a while I was looking for some music to truly test my new speakers. I came across this SACD which totally blew my mind. In the last track, volume being at 0dB, I was totally blown away by how the speakers filled my house! I am glad my downstairs neighbor was not home at that moment. -Pitch

  • Re: Who buys SACDs?

Hey Ya'll,  Thought I would jump in here. SACD has been, IMHO, dying since it came out. To be sure it's been slowly fizzling out for  the last 4 years. It is certainly higher quality than standard CD and, as you noted JonL, is capable of Multichannel (thought SACDs often come in stereo mixes only) Fry's is my local ...

  • SACD through Denon 2807?

I can't seem to play SACDs in my system, which is causing me to weep.  The set-up: CD/DVD player = Oppo 970 HD Receiver = Denon 2807 Speakers = An unstoppable force of Aperion sound (fronts = 2 x 633T, center = 634, surrounds = 533T, S-10 sub -- and yes, this system is as unbelievably amazing as you might expect) HDMI connect between ...

  • Oppo 970 dvd/cd player and SACDs

Have just purchased my first SACD to play in my Oppo DVD/CD player, I have the HDMI cable hooked into my Onkyo 674 receiver, plus I also have the 6 cables hooked up for the speaker outs.  Does anyone know what settings I may have to change if any on the receiver or the Oppo to play a SACD.  From what I understand HDMI  does not ...

  • Surrounds - How High?

Well, I took the plunge and ordered my 5.1 system as described in this post.   A/V Receiver: Outlaw 1070 DVD Player: Oppo DV-970HD TV: Sony KD-XBR970 Speakers: front: 532-LR, center: 533-VAC, surround, 422-LR, Sub: S-8 Remote: Harmony 880 Everything else: nearly a thousand bucks worth of interconnects stands, antennas, power ...

  • Analog vs. Digital for DVD/DVD-A

Hey, I just added a Denon DVD-2910 DVD/DVD-A/SACD player to my set-up, and am trying to get a handle on opinions of digital vs. analog wiring. I know for SACD I need to use the analog outs, but am wondering whether it is better to stick with the digital for DVD-A and DVD. My reciever is a Denon AVR-3805, so the surround processing is ...
  • 80Hz fixed cutoff on Denon SACD Players + 422 - Problem?

Ok, I really couldn't figure out how to word the ****le (apparently some sort of content filter takes the t1t out of t1tle, so that looks weird...) of this without it turning out goofy, which I think it did ... anyway, my question is in regards to DVD-A/SACD playback with the 422s. I realize that they aren't the ideal speakers for this, and I ...

  • 5.1 Audio connectors

I just bought my first SACD player so I needed to connect the analog cables to the reciever.  I went online looking for a set and it seemed like monster cable only had one set and it only came in a six foot length and it was a higher grade cable than I would normaly buy but I said screw it even though just the cable cost about a third of what ...

  • DVD-A or SACD?

I just ordered my first player that can play both DVD-A and SACD and I have seen a few disks that I want that are available in both versions.  I don't know the technical details of the two formats.  Which one should I get if I have a choice?  What is the difference?
