This is my first post to the forum. I have had my Aperion speakers for 2 years now, and I am thrilled with the performance of my speakers, and entire Home Theatre setup so far.
I pretty much listened to CNET and AVS Forums and I feel I have done an excellent job. Everybody that sees and hears my system is floored.. and now I am contemplating taking it to another level. I am now contemplating the move to 7.1 from 5.1.
My room is pretty big – 23' long x 18' wide with an open 4 ft wide stairway along the length. My 60" Pioneer is over the fireplace at one end of the end of the room.
My current setup is a Denon AVR-3808CI receiver connected to:
- 2 Intimus 533-T Towers
- 1 533 VAC Center
- 2 532 LR Bookshelfs currently used as my rear surrounds on the 5.1 about 12 ft from the screen (11ft remains behind couch)
- Intimus S-10 Subwoofer (currently placed under the open stairway, but I think I had more bottom when it was in the closed end)
As I mentioned, everything sounds great as-is, but my question is:
Should I just add on 2 Bookshelfs as Rear Surrounds, keeping my current rears as sides?
Or should I put Diploes on the sides and switch the 532s to the rear?
I am interested to hear your thoughts. THANKS!

IF you feel the need to go 7.1, I would go dipoles (assuming primarily movie use of your HT) and move the bookshelves to the back.

Would the 4s be OK? Or would I need to use the 5s?

I'd go 5's for that size of room.
