Hello all, I am taking the plunge and building out the system in my media room. It's a very large room in my finished basement (>500sqft). I have a Denon 3808CI that I came to own through some good luck. My primary use for the system will be Bluerays/DVDs/TV and gaming. The four rears are pre-wired in ceiling. After a good bit of research I have narrowed down my choices to Aperion and a couple others. So some questions… I have been looking at the Intimus 6T towers, 6C center and 6-IC in ceiling for the room and I am unsure between the 8D sub or 10D sub. Any advice on this? I am assuming that because of the larger size of the room that the 6T/6C are the more appropriate choice for the fronts and centers? Thanks for any help! - J |

You are heading in the right direction with the 6T and 6C. However, given the size of the room, I would recommend the 12D subwoofer. Your room, presuming an 8 foot ceiling , is at least 4,000 cubic feet |

Thanks for the reply, Wow the 12D? The ceiling is 9' so you are correct it is at least 4,000 cubic feet. The price difference in the 10D and 12D is huge… might have to consider an alternative sub I suppose, was hoping to stay all one brand for consistancy though. |

Second question. Is there any real difference between the 6-IC and 6-IW perfomance wise (I am assuming if one wanted they could mount a 6-IW in the ceiling). |

Not familiar with the difference in the 6IC and 6IW. Maybe someone else can chime in. You can use a different brand sub without any issues – although Bravus is highly recommended here. [8-|] |

[/quote] Hello from one Jason to another and welcome to the forum, The in walls and in ceiling use the exact same drivers, but since the in ceilings have the tweeter mounted in the center of the woofer and the in walls have the tweeter above the woofer the in walls have a bit wider of a sound field than the in ceilings. |

Thanks for the help all. I just pulled the trigger and ordered. I did go with the 12D and the 6ICs! Now the dreaded wait while they ship…. |

Definitely jealous of the 12D. Wish I woulda pulled the trigger and gone for it instead of the 10D, not that that isn't making me happy, but there's always the need for bigger and better, or should I say the wanting. |

So, in prep for the new speakers I have started opening up my pre-wire boxes around the room. And to my suprise the wire is 16 gauge… as it was run by a home theather shop when the house was built I had assumed that they would have used 14 or 12 . Anyway my question is if the 16 gauge will be ok for running this system? |

My family room was wired with good quality 16 guage, and I have had no problems with it. Probably not the best first choice, but again, I have had no problems, and I don't worry about it. |
