Beautiful setup, and a beautiful view as well. What floor are you on, looks to be around 10. The picture on the Kuro really got me. I was trying to figure which one was you in the reflection, until I look a bit closer. Do you think the 6C might sound better if it was pulled to the front? I would think you might get some reflections as is.

HA…yeah…that was just a commercial on TV. I tried to avoid pics of me in the reflection.
I'm on the 16th floor…it's a beautiful view (about 240-270 degrees) from the windows/balcony. Great view of downtown, Lake Michigan, and on a clear day, I can almost see to Evanston to the North.
Good call on the 6C. Just set it on there without thinking much about positioning.

Second that. Looks awesome. Curious, have you found an ideal location for the Bravus sub? I currently have mine between the fronts/center, and wanted to try the side walls. I have got to get a better camera. Nice pics!! |

GIK panels: VERY worth the investment. I bought them when I was in my old apartment, and talk about night-and-day. Treating your room, even a little bit, is worth EVERY penny. Also, the guys at GIK are awesome like the Aperion folks. Great to do business with.
4Bs: Undecided. Likely, I'll just move them to another room and keep the 5.1 setup. There's not really a good place to put them, thanks to that concrete post, and I think I'm going to use the last two channels on my Onkyo for Zone 2 outdoor speakers on the deck. |

I just put the sub in the first place that made sense. I liked it in the original apt between the center and left channel, but didn't have the room here (6T's are HUGE). Since the 12D doesn't play nice with the APC, I didn't worry about running power to it from there, so I just found the closest outlet in the floor and plugged it in there. I'll probably play with it when I can finally see my kitchen again (boxes EVERYWHERE lol) and have room to move.

While I love my Bravus sub(s), I do wish Aperion had a killer front firing sub. Majority of HT applications pack all speakers against the front wall, leaving little or no space between speakers. While the current Bravus subs are quite flexible in any room (especially considering their size), I find they need adequate space on BOTH sides of the sub. Opinions? |

Automatic calibration, it's a good place to start. Once you've run the automatic calibration, grab a tape measure and ensure the calibration distance values are somewhat accurate. Next, using an SPL meter (mounted on a camera tripod if you have one), follow the steps listed on the Aperion site. Then give a listen. Everyone tweaks the levels up/down depending on taste. Don't be afraid of the SPL meter. It only takes a few minutes, and it is an essential part of any HT. Any time you move speakers, furniture, etc. it is recommended you repeat the procedure above.

Monoprice 12awg for the surrounds. Emotiva X-series for the fronts/center (for looks…no difference in sound if the speaker cable is good enough, and the generic stuff is).

Great set up! Fantastic view! I live in a block house and finally broke down and bought a hammer drill. If you do not have one it makes a huge difference drilling through concrete, stucco and cinder blocks. It made short work running my sub cable around the outside of my home. I had to drill 3 holes through cinder blocks and put up a bunch of clips to secure the cable – and the holes took seconds instead of minutes to drill! |

Lookin' good PJ, I too thought at first that was a reflection of you hanging out with your buddies in the Kuro. You gotta love the "Aperion burgundy" sound panels. That view is amazing and that's pretty sweet that you have a Kuro and a projector. No I'm not jealous, not at all. [8-|] |
