Dry Wall anchors insufficient

Comments: The wall anchors will not hold the weight of the center speaker. I installed this mount according to instructions and placed my 533-VAC on top. I was a bit concerned that the metal supports bowed under the weight of the speaker, but since this bracket was specifically recommended for this speaker, I decided to leave it up. I was awoken that night to the sound of my speaker crashing 4 ft to the ground. One of the wall anchors had pulled out of the wall. The speaker itself seems to function, but the grill was ripped off, the finish was scratched and when it fell it sliced a component cable in two. I would not trust a $300 speaker to this mount. I've now purchased a bookshelf to place behind my tv and support the center speaker. It looks a little odd, but I can rest easy at night.

Center mount preference

Comments:

I purchased a 5.1 system and needed mounts for all of the speakers. This mount was by far the easiest to install and the best looking. I used some self-drilling drywall screws instead of those included in the package. I also purchased the ball and joint wall mounts to mount the L & R 532s, and they were terribly difficult to install.

Works great....with a catch.....

Comments:

The mount was easy to install, but the install instructions specifically say the mount is rated only to 20lbs, and not to install only to drywall.

If you can't mount this to your studs or some other supported wall then I would not recommend this for your center channel.

I do like the look, as it tends to blend in with the black of the center, so you don't really notice it, which is the point...

good mount. but hard to position onto the wall.

Comments: it happened that where I needed this on the wall, there was a stud right between the two L hooks... so basically I had nothing to attach this mount to. and would have had to fabricate something (rectangle piece of plywood came to mind).

I ended up using toggle bolts to attach each L mount to the drywall (1/2" drywall). Make sure to use toggles that don't bend under a load though. The little ones bend pretty easily.

I wish this mount had a metal center support (built in back) for ease of mounting to studs. As it is now, it's hard to center this mount onto the wall AND mounting to studs, you may have to choose one over the other. or mess with toggle bolts, or even upgrade to the next model up. Because of this inconvenience, I'll give this mount a 4. (I see the model up has this feature, you may wish to look at that one instead).

Cosmetically, the mount is very nice. solid (once mounted correctly), and welcome addition to the appearance of my room
