I used these to mount five 4B's on my walls. The mounts are plenty strong enough to securely support the weight of a 4B.
All of mine are mounted to wall studs, so I can't comment on using them with drywall hangers, etc.
I took off one rating point because the way the mounting part attached to the speaker fits over the metal bracket that attaches to the wall makes the final position of the speaker on the wall be a little lower (by about 1 inch) than I wanted it. But it still looks and works great, so no real problem there. I'm probably the pickiest guy you'll ever meet, my friends and family thought I was insane when I told them how I thought the speakers were an inch too low! They thought it was perfect.
Overall I don't think you can find a better wall mount bracket anyway. |

After reading other reviews on these mounts, I was a bit unsure if I wanted to purchase them. However, once I got them on the wall and secured my speakers (4B satellites), I was amazed!! All the screws fit perfectly and the install was a breeze! I would definitely find a stud though, since you are mounting the world's greatest speakers...why risk it! |
Works well

I mounted these in my chimney and they work great. I agree that there's no way drywall would hold speakers up with these mounts, but that's just because speakers are heavy. So find a stud or something solid to put these in and you'll be happy. |
Okay for really light speakers

I bought this mount for 2 4Bs and a 4C. They look good and have some reasonable left/right and tilt adjustability, but, in all honesty, they are not designed to hold anything heavier than the 4B at the heaviest. (Maybe these were designed for a cheap, light speaker rather than the heavier Aperion design?) Even the 4B requires that you seriously crank the central securing bolt to the point of nearly damaging the threads or hex socket. Anything less and you find your speakers slowly sagging, giving better sound to the cat on the floor than you in your listening position. Now that I've got the 4Bs tight enough that they won't droop I can't adjust positioning for fear of having to fight with them all over again and accidentally pulling them out of the wall in the process.
I've re-adjusted the center channel repeatedly and am now considering building a simple but much more secure shelf as an alternative. |
Great Mounts but not for drywall

These B-Tech mounts are ideal for the 422's. I like the up-down left-right fully adjustable ball. With an Onkyo 7.1 use the Audessy to balance them +or- 3db, easy to do, as this mount allows you to aim them at ear level for amazing sound. A follow up on the drywall mount problem mentioned earlier. The B-Tech instructions that come with this mount says (I'm not shouting, this is exactly how the instructions appear in print):
WARNING: IF YOU INSTALL THIS MOUNT ON DRYWALL, IT MUST BE ANCHORED INTO A WOOD STUD, CONCRETE BLOCK OR BRICK BEHIND THE DRYWALL. INSTALLING ON DRYWALL ALONE WILL NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF A LOUDSPEAKER.
It goes on to say they are not liable for any damage. So it may not be a good idea to use these on hollow drywall. lol. |
Good, but don't use drywall mounts with in-wall wiring

I purchased a pair of these for my 422-LR's. Assembly is easy, and it's a good product overall. I wouldn't try to hang a heavier speaker on them.
The first speaker I hung used external wiring and worked great using the provided wallboard mounts. For the second speaker, I ran the wiring up inside the wall. The wall-mount plate has a 1/2" circle cut in the middle so you can pull wiring through it from behind. The mounting screws are located just above and below this hole. When I put the 1/2" hole in the drywall to pull the wire through, it so weakened the sheet rock around the top mount that it just caved in as soon as I put weight on it. I essentially created one big (ugly)hole out of the two. (Not good!) I ended up mounting that speaker on the nearest stud and bringing the wire in from the side instead of directly behind. Much better solution. I just have to do some drywall repair now!!
I'd buy them again now that I know not to do that!!
