Beats out the "big guys"
Laurence R. - August 18, 2010
OK, so I lost the argument to my wife: she wanted the "Steinway" black finish, I wanted the cherry finish. We have beautiful BLACK Aperion 6Bs in our listening room. (she's always right - grin) I thought that they'd play second fiddle (bad pun, I know) to my much more expensive B&W speakers. NOT. As a slightly curmudgeonly retired news correspondent, I am a tough audience. But I do admit it when I'm wrong. (usually)
After many hours of comparison with my B&W 705s, the 6Bs stay and the B&Ws have been sold to someone else to love. Oh, nothing "wrong" with the "big guy" speakers - but the Aperions are warmer in the mid-range and yet they have a much more neutral sound overall. In fact, they just seem to disappear and let the music come through. How do they do that? I really don't care. The 6Bs sing with the "help" of my NAD AVR and new Oppo BDP-83 Special Edition player. Thanks, Aperion, for adding even more quality to my life!
Stunning performers!

I purchased a new Denon AVR for the living room and the old AVR-2800 got moved up to the office/den. After much research and consultation I decided on the Energy Take Classic system for my 10 X 10 room. Two weeks later I couldn’t live with the vocals from the center channel so I ordered the Aperion 4C. The 4C provided much better tone to the vocals and worked well with the Energys but the system still sounded small…..enter Aperion 5Bs for the front channels ( 2 Energy speakers down to the living room for 7.1). At this point the system was moving in the right direction and looked great sitting on top of my desk with the 40” Sony Bravia that doubles as my computer monitor. Unfortunately my ear is tuned to the Klipsch R5 towers, surrounds and sub in the main entertainment area, so 5Bs /4C were still missing something . Thanks to the generous return /exchange policy at Aperion, off go the 5B/4C set up and in come the 6B/5C set up. BINGO! I am still running the Energy sub and surrounds but this system WORKS! Although both earlier set ups were crisp and concise, they didn’t have the full, rich sound of the 6Bs even in the small room. There is a depth to the sound stage that was missing before . Listening to optically connected cable music channels in stereo, while working on the computer, with the 6Bs maybe 3 feet from each ear, (comfortable volume) is like attending a live private concert. Sitting on the sofa with John Legend plugged into the Blu-ray singing “Ordinary People”, in 5.1 will cause chills. Diana Krall and Tony Bennett Blu-rays flow out of the large bookshelf speakers effortlessly , providing a palatial banquet for the auditory senses.
I should be totally satisfied but now is where the decision making really gets tough. Do I watch the recently acquired Avatar Blu-ray on the Pioneer plasma in the living room or on the Bravia up in the office? Darn, guess I will have to view it twice.
6B for 2-channel

Did a lot of research on two-way monitors for a 2.1 dedicated music system - my budget was $1000-$1500. I read every review out there about speakers in this range and listened to quite a few. Among other things, I was impressed with the sheer weight of the 6Bs which to me translated as non-resonant cabinets and good internal bracing which, if implemented properly with the right drivers and crossover, could be sonic magic. All this to say that I bought these based on acceptance of Aperion's theory of design and implementation. I was a little nervous about a purchase without a listening session with the 6Bs. Either I am really smart for believing Aperion and/or these guys are really on to something. After 3 months of break-in, tweaking the placement, and integrating them with a sub (Velodyne SPL-1500R), I have to wonder why there aren't more reviews (customer and professional) of the 6Bs. Maybe they are purchased more for home theater applications and not for critical music listening. I wish more serious two-channel dinosaurs out there like me could hear the 6Bs. Believable imaging, midrange purity, smooth treble, dynamic range, solid coherent bass response are only part of the story. Attention serious music folks - these are the real deal. Also, everything you read about build quality, packaging, customer support, etc., - all true. Well done Aperion.
Unbeatable speakers!

I purchased a 5C center, a pair of 5B's for surrounds and a pair of 6B's for the front speakers to match up with a pair of Paradigm 10" subs that I previously owned. I've had this system in use now for a few weeks and I'll that I can say is that they sound great, they truly are works of art and they make a phenomenal sound system! I also purchased a pair of i29 stands for the 5B surrounds. Let me just say that these speaker stands are about 4 times sturdier than you think they are. They not only compliment the 5B's perfectly, but also the whole sound system. Additionally, you'll find that the customer service team at Aperion is second to none! All were extremely helpful every step of the way, from set up suggestions, shipping and follow through after the sale. For the cost and value, you cannot beat these speakers! Great job!
Excellent bookshelf speakers

I was immediately impressed by how well these speakers were packed. Aperion's attention to detail shows right from the beginning. They are very solidly built, and beautiful too. ( I got the cherry finish) WAF is not a problem with these babies!
Once I got my system calibrated and dialed in, I was amazed. These are great speakers for HT, but they blew me away with their music handling. They brought out new details in music that I have listened to hundreds of times before and missed.
I also bought the 5C and 4B for surrounds. With all 5 going they seemed a little underpowered, so I may have to add an amplifier to run the fronts.
Great speakers, and superb customer service!
Aperion 6B - Powerhouse Bookshelf Speaker

I was among the first to receive the new 6B bookshelf speakers and I have truly enjoyed them. Great bass response, super midrange sound and high end accuracy without brightness. The 6B has performed well with jazz, rock and classical music. Female vocalists sound great with the 6B - Diana Krall and Norah Jones for example. The 6B's performance for home theater has excelled as well. They fill my space with powerful sound and its a good sized room - 15 x 25 x 9. Go ahead and pump the power to the 6B's - they'll take most anything you throw at them with aplomb. I highly recommend Aperion's new 6B Bookshelf speakers.
