I never write product reviews but felt obligated to do so in this case due to the quality of the product and customer service I received.
Initially, I was a little apprehensive about purchasing a speaker system that I had not heard in person. If you fall into this category, I strongly encourage you to take the plunge and pursue the Aperion Audio speakers. I can tell you from my own experience that Aperion Audio's no hassle return policy and TOP notch customer service/support should definitely remove any concerns you might have. I leveraged both of these services during my purchase experience and they were great to deal with. Their no hassle return policy is not just lip service, they stand by it.
After much research online and auditioning various speakers in similar (and above) price ranges, I decided to order the Aperion Verus Grand XD system. It was the best decision I could have made. After placing these speakers in my far less that optimal home theater room, the Aperion's clearly shined above the other similarly priced systems I auditioned in much better acoustically designed rooms.
The Verus Grand Tower's are fantastic for two channel music. I immediately heard new elements of music I've listened to for years due to the quality and clarity of the sound these speakers produce. As I've continued through my music library, I repeatedly have this experience, hearing my favorite music at a whole new level.
The Verus Grand XD systems is equally amazing for Home Theater use. The Verus Grand Center produces excellent, clear dialogue. As a whole, the system has fantastic imaging, really allowing the sound to move from left to right and front to back with a seamless transition.
Initially I was a little concerned on the Bravus sub. It initially seemed a little light to me. After some tuning of my system (and possibly some break in) I have found that the folks at Aperion knew what they were doing. The sub rounds out the bottom of my music and is more than capable of substantial punch in home theater use. I find that the Bravus sub is paired very well with the Verus Grand Towers for music. It just seems to cup the bottom end of the sound spectrum without sounding over or under done... Just right.
Aside from the sound, the speakers are well made and beautiful. Wife points achieved...
- Detailed and Tight Rusty
After firing it up and letting it settle in for a few days, I played a lot of music. I just couldn't stop listening. This sub doesn't go as low or as loud as others in it's price range, but it is so precise and gets plenty loud and low for me. I had to add foam tape all over the place just to stop the house from rattling!!! As far as precision, I listened to a lot of technical death metal with bass arpeggio's and crazy fast double bass. This sub not only played it clean as day, but as loud as I could handle. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Equally impressive was electronic music. The extension on low bass notes is astounding, you can literally feel it, no matter where you are in the room. I discovered at loud volumes you can feel it in every wall, even on the other end of the house. Not for apartments, that's for sure.
I never was into the Home Theater scene, but I find myself buying more and more movies just because this sub has made them a blast to watch. If you buy one of these beauties, let it warm up and watch the new Batman trilogy. What a treat!
In summation, I was totally blown away by this sub. Not just it's sound, but it's really a piece of furniture too. I often take the radiator covers off just to watch this beauty play. Great job Aperion. I plan on buying another just to bump up the bass even more. Highly recommended.

Bravo Aperion Audio
5 stars to the Grand verus center channel in every way.
- Excellent Sound Excellent Value Excellent Quality Omar
- Well made and excellent value Omar
For those debating the 5008 vs the 6008 here is my take. If you don't have a need for HDMI out for zone 2 or DSD ( SA-CD) then the extra 10w per channel might not be worth the $300 dollars. Also the 5008 is going to be a few inches more shallow than the 6008 which happened to be a positive for my current furniture.
Overall couldn't be happier! Its a perfect match with the Aperion Intimus setup.
- Completes my HT Michael B.
Let me just say that never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined my completed system sounding this good. I used my Integra 8.9's bi-amp capabilities with the Verus towers for the fronts and used the 5Bs as the surrounds. I did my firsts test with HBO's John Adams miniseries and with Rob Rodriguez's Machette, both Blu-ray discs in DTS-HD Master Audio. The sound stage is stunning for both action scenes or immersing yourself into an entirely natural landscape. When calibrated, the towers and the center literally disappear delivering a broad and enveloping experience. The bookshelf speakers handle the surrounds just as easily as they handled the fronts. And the sub continues to cleanly push out thunderous lows with no distortion.
And they have to be the best looking furniture in my theater. I was worried about this point but it actually works out considering how large and heavy they are. And believe it or not, you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference in finishes unless you put a lot of light and attention onto the Verus and the Intimus cabinets.
My one complaint about the towers is that they are advertised to have metal grilles. Having a cat with claws, this was a huge selling point. They are metal, but they are also covered in fabric which sort of kills this selling point. They are also impossible to remove without the "grill removal tool" which I was unable to find anywhere in the packaging.
All in all, what I got was much more than I expected to get. And with Aperion's proven customer service record I know I couldn't find a better deal on speakers of this caliber.
- Excellent Doug
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these speakers. The velvet bags are a nice touch too.
- Fan for years Mike
Now to the sound. I have owned Klipsch heritage lines for years. Not wife approved by the way. The Aperions blow the Klipsch away in detail and texture. The fact that they are great foe movies as well as music is the number one reason for my purchase and do they ever deliver. Previous Definitive Technologies were pale in comparison as well. After the break in period the openness is amazing. If you like movies with all the in your face sounds and music with all the nuances recorded and intended to reproduce you better get your credit card warmed up.
