Nomadland (2021 Film)

Nomadland is a 2020 American drama film directed, written, and edited by Chloé Zhao. It stars Frances McDormand as a woman who leaves home to travel around the American West. It also features David Strathairn in a supporting role, as well as real-life nomads Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells, as fictionalized versions of themselves. The film is based on the 2017 non-fiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder.
Nomadland premiered on September 11, 2020, at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Golden Lion. It also won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. It had a one-week streaming release on December 4, 2020, and was released by Searchlight Pictures in selected IMAX theaters in the United States on January 29, 2021, and simultaneously in theaters and digitally on Hulu on February 19, 2021.
The film garnered acclaim, becoming the third-highest rated of 2020 on Metacritic,[4] which found it to be the most frequently ranked by critics and publications as one of the best films of 2020. It was named one of the ten best films of 2020 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute, and received four nominations at the 78th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

The Father (2021 Film)

The Father is a 2020 drama film co-written and directed by Florian Zeller, based on his 2012 play Le Père. A French-British co-production, the film stars Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams, and follows an aging Welshman who must deal with his progressing memory loss.


The Father had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on 27 January 2020, and will be released on the United Kingdom on 11 June 2021 by Lionsgate. The film received acclaim from critics, who lauded Hopkins and Colman's performances and praised its depiction of dementia. At the 78th Golden Globe Awards, the film received four nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

The French Dispatch (2021 Film)

The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun (known simply as The French Dispatch) is an upcoming American comedy-drama film written and directed by Wes Anderson from a story written by Anderson, Roman Coppola, Hugo Guinness, and Jason Schwartzman. The film will focus as one of three different storylines[4] on the French foreign bureau of a fictional Kansas newspaper.


The film features an ensemble cast consisting of Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Steve Park, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson. The film's supporting cast features several of Anderson's recurring collaborators, including Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan, Jason Schwartzman, and Anjelica Huston, among others.

The Last Duel (2021 Film)

The Last Duel is an upcoming historical drama-thriller film directed by Ridley Scott. Based on the book The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France by Eric Jager, the screenplay is written by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Nicole Holofcener. Damon stars in the lead role opposite Adam Driver and Jodie Comer, with Affleck in a supporting role.


It is scheduled to be released on October 15, 2021, by 20th Century Studios.

DUNE (2021 Film)

Dune is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve with a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve, and Eric Roth. The film is an international co-production of Canada, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is the first of a planned two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, which will cover roughly the first half of the book. The film stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.

Dune is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States in IMAX and 3D on October 1, 2021, by Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as a month-long simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming service

Top Gun: Maverick (2021 Film)

Top Gun: Maverick is an upcoming American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie and a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks.[6] It is the sequel to 1986's Top Gun. The film stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film.
Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States and Canada on July 2, 2021, by Paramount Pictures. It will also be available to stream on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical debut. It was originally scheduled for release on July 12, 2019[7] but was postponed to "allow the production to work out all the complex flight sequences". The release was then delayed further due to the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts

The Matrix 4 (2021 Film)

The untitled fourth Matrix film (also known as The Matrix 4) is an upcoming American science fiction action film and the fourth installment in The Matrix franchise. The film is produced, co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, who co-directed and co-wrote the three previous films with Lilly Wachowski. Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt reprise their roles from previous films in the series. The film will be a joint production by Village Roadshow Pictures, Wachowskis Productions and Silver Pictures and is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures theatrically on December 22, 2021; it will also stream digitally on HBO Max in the United States for a month beginning on that same date.

Black Widow (2021 Film)

Black Widow is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Cate Shortland and written by Eric Pearson from a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, and stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow alongside Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and Rachel Weisz. Set after Captain America: Civil War (2016), the film sees Romanoff on the run and forced to confront her past.

Development of a Black Widow film began in April 2004 by Lionsgate, with David Hayter attached to write and direct. The project did not move forward and the film rights to the character reverted to Marvel Studios by June 2006. Johansson was cast in the role for several MCU films beginning with Iron Man 2 (2010). Marvel and Johansson expressed interest in a solo film several times over the following years, before Schaeffer and Shortland were hired in 2018. Benson joined in early 2019, with Pearson added later. Filming took place from May to October, in Norway, Budapest, Morocco, Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, and in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia.

Black Widow is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 7, 2021, as the first film in Phase Four of the MCU. Its release was delayed twice from an original May 2020 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sing 2 (2021 Film)

Sing 2 is an upcoming American computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Illumination. A sequel to the 2016 film Sing, the film will be written and directed by Garth Jennings and will star Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton and Tori Kelly reprising their roles from the first film. The sequel also features new characters voiced by Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, Chelsea Peretti and Bono.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021, by Universal Pictures.

Pinocchio (2021 Film)

Pinocchio is an upcoming American stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film co-written and co-directed by Guillermo del Toro, based on Gris Grimly's design from his 2002 edition of the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It was written from a screenplay by del Toro, Gris Grimly, Patrick McHale and Matthew Robbins and a story by del Toro and Robbins. The film marks the animated feature film directorial debut of Guillermo del Toro. It stars the voices of Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Cate Blanchett, Tim Blake Nelson, Finn Wolfhard, Burn Gorman and John Turturro.

Produced by The Jim Henson Company and ShadowMachine in co-production with Necropia Entertainment, Pinocchio was announced by Del Toro in 2008 and scheduled to be released in 2014, but the project went into development hell. In January 2017, McHale was announced to co-write the script, but in November 2017, the production was suspended as no studios were willing to provide financing. The production was revived the following year after being acquired by Netflix. The film is planned for a 2021 release.

Encanto is an upcoming American computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.The 60th film produced by the studio, it is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed by Charise Castro Smith and written by Bush and Castro Smith with songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.


Encanto is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on November 24, 2021

LUCA (2021 Film)

Luca is an upcoming American computer-animated coming-of-age comedy fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is directed by Enrico Casarosa in his directorial debut, written by Mike Jones and Jesse Andrews, and produced by Andrea Warren. The film features the voice talents of Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Marco Barricelli, Saverio Raimondo, Maya Rudolph, and Jim Gaffigan.

The film tells the story of Luca Paguro, a sea monster boy with the ability to assume human form while on land, who explores a seaside town on the Italian Riviera with his friend Alberto Scorfano, experiencing a life-changing summer. Luca is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 18, 2021.

Death on the Nile (2021 Film)

Death on the Nile is an upcoming mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh, with a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. Produced by Branagh, Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Judy Hofflund, Mark Gordon and Kevin J. Walsh, the film is a follow-up to 2017's Murder on the Orient Express and stars Branagh returning as Hercule Poirot, along with Tom Bateman (also returning from the first film), Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. The film is the third screen adaptation of Christie's novel, following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie's Poirot broadcast in 2004.

Principal photography began in September 2019, with filming taking place at Longcross Studios in England and on location in Morocco, and wrapped that December.

The film is set to be theatrically released on September 17, 2021 by 20th Century Studios.

A Quiet Place Part II (2021 Film)

A Quiet Place Part II is a 2020 American horror film and the sequel to A Quiet Place (2018). The sequel film was written and directed by John Krasinski and stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, who reprise their roles from the first film. Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou also joined the cast. Krasinski also reprises his role from the first film in newly-filmed flashback sequences.

Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the first film, began development of a sequel in April 2018 following the box-office success of the first film. By the following August, Krasinski was writing the film, and he was hired in February 2019 to direct. Production took place in Western New York from June to September 2019.

The film had its world premiere in New York City on March 8, 2020, and is scheduled to be theatrically released on September 17, 2021. It will also be available to stream on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical debut. The theatrical release was delayed three times from an original March 2020 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 Last Night in Soho (2021 Film)

Last Night in Soho is an upcoming psychological horror film directed by Edgar Wright, with a screenplay by Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, based on a story by Wright.[1] The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham and Terence Stamp. The film focuses on a young wannabe fashion designer girl who mysteriously enters the 1960s to encounter her idol. The film will mark the final film appearances for Rigg and Margaret Nolan, who died in September and October 2020, respectively.

Last Night in Soho is scheduled to be released on October 22, 2021, by Focus Features in the United States and Universal Pictures in other countries.

Old is an upcoming American supernatural psychological horror-thriller film written, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, inspired by the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. Raya and the Last Dragon is an upcoming American computer-animated action-adventure fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios for distribution by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The 59th film produced by the studio, it is directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directed by Paul Briggs and John Ripa,produced by Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho, written by Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim, and music score composed by James Newton Howard.The film features a predominantly Asian American cast, including the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as the titular Raya and Awkwafina as Sisu, the titular dragon, along with Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Sandra Oh, Benedict Wong, Izaac Wang, Thalia Tran, and Alan Tudyk.

Raya and the Last Dragon is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on March 5, 2021 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film will also be simultaneously available on Disney+ with Premier Access, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic's negative impact on movie theaters across the United States, with many of them remaining closed.

The Suicide Squad (2021 Film)

The Suicide Squad is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics team of the same name. Produced by DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, and The Safran Company, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is intended to be a standalone sequel to Suicide Squad (2016) and the tenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Written and directed by James Gunn, the film stars an ensemble cast including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Peter Capaldi. In the film, a task force of imprisoned convicts are sent to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory.

A sequel to Suicide Squad was expected before that film's release, with David Ayer returning as director, but in December 2016 he chose to develop a Gotham City Sirens film instead. Warner Bros. considered several directors to take on the sequel before hiring Gavin O'Connor in September 2017, but he left a year later. In October 2018, Gunn was hired to write the film after being temporarily dismissed by Disney and Marvel Studios as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). He was confirmed to be directing The Suicide Squad in January 2019, and looked to the 1980s Suicide Squad comics as well as war films for inspiration. The film includes some returning cast members and also introduces new characters, while telling a new story separate from the first film's narrative. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia, in September 2019, and concluded in Panama in February 2020.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on August 6, 2021. It will be released for streaming on HBO Max on the same date. Peacemaker, a spin-off television series starring Cena, is set to debut on HBO Max in January 2022.

Morbius (2021 Film)

Morbius is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is intended to be the third film in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa, written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and stars Jared Leto as Michael Morbius alongside Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. In the film, Morbius becomes a vampire after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood disease.

After announcing plans for a new shared universe of films inspired by Spider-Man characters beginning with Venom (2018), Sony began developing one based on Morbius. Sazama and Sharpless had written a script by November 2017. Leto and Espinosa officially joined in June 2018. Work began in earnest at the end of the year with further casting, ahead of a production start in February 2019 in London. Filming was confirmed to have been completed by June 2019.

Morbius is scheduled to be released in the United States on January 21, 2022, delayed from an initial July 2020 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 No time to die (2021 Film)

No Time to Die is a forthcoming spy film and the twenty-fifth instalment in the James Bond film series produced by Eon Productions. It stars Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as the fictional British MI6 agent James Bond; Craig has stated that it will be his final James Bond role. The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a screenplay by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Fukunaga, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and David Dencik joining the cast as new characters.

Development began in 2016. No Time to Die will be the first Bond film distributed by Universal Pictures, which acquired the international distribution rights following the expiration of Sony Pictures' contract after the release of Spectre in 2015. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer subsidiary United Artists Releasing holds the rights for North America, including worldwide digital and television rights. Universal also have rights to release the film on physical home media worldwide.

Danny Boyle was originally attached to direct and co-write the screenplay with John Hodge. Both left due to creative differences in August 2018; Fukunaga was announced as Boyle's replacement a month later. The majority of the cast had signed on by April 2019. Principal photography lasted from April to October 2019 under the working title Bond 25. The final title was announced in August 2019. With an estimated budget of $250 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made.

No Time to Die is scheduled for release on 30 September 2021 in the United Kingdom by Universal Pictures and 8 October 2021 in the United States by United Artists Releasing, after being delayed several times due to Boyle's departure and later due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
