Grandis GR8 Bookshelf Speakers
Aperion Audio marks its 25th anniversary in 2024 with the launch of the Grandis High Fidelity Bookshelf Speaker, following 24 years of technical advancements. The world of hi-fi music enthusiasts is known for its discerning taste and unwavering quest for superior sound quality. Despite facing stiff competition from long-standing speaker brands worldwide, Aperion Audio felt compelled to develop its own hi-fi speaker series. The Grandis series embodies Aperion Audio's dedication to delivering exceptional sound quality and strives to be recognized as one of the finest hi-fi speakers globally.
To achieve high fidelity sound, a strong musical sense is essential, especially for the HiFi bookshelf speaker. Striking a balance between various aspects of performance, such as the full frequency range and driver unit design, is a complex task. Ensuring that a 8“ mid-bass driver unit can accurately reproduce frequencies down to 30 Hz, and making a tweeter produce warm, transparent high frequencies are key challenges. Developing a speaker that can cater to diverse music genres presents a significant hurdle.
In the development of Theatrus series, we engineered an exceptional coating material specifically for soft-dome midrange drivers. By precisely adjusting the physical characteristics of the soft-dome coating formula, we successfully improved the physical properties of the Grandis dome tweeter unit, resulting in the desired sound performance. Our current objective is to optimize the high frequency extension and reduce distortion significantly. These technological advancements have been integrated into the design of the Grandis tweeter unit.
The Grandis GR8 high fidelity bookshelf speaker boast a 8-inch mid-bass driver unit that excels in producing low frequencies in a confined space, fulfilling a challenging requirement. Its exceptional sound expression in the mid-frequency range sets it apart from other designs in the market. Extensive testing led to the development of a new multi-material cone technology which we call "AFG" - Aluminum-Foam-Glass fiber, to meet our specific sound performance needs, going beyond mere physical properties.
Throughout an extensive year and a half of testing and modifying, following numerous rounds of design alterations, the sound of our Grandis High Fidelity Bookshelf Speaker has progressively aligned with our design vision. However, despite our efforts to tweak the drivers, we had yet to achieve a perfect match with our desired outcome. We scrutinized the driver units, cabinet crossover design, and other components, but the issue was still present. Upon reflection, we shifted our focus towards the capacitor. After experimenting with various capacitors worldwide, we discovered that an expensive capacitor met our sound requirements, albeit at a high cost. This prompted us to explore the possibility of designing our own capacitor. After thorough research and testing, we successfully developed a silver nickel alloy capacitor that perfectly complements the smoothness and transparency of the Grandis Tweeter Unit.
On the occasion of Aperion Audio's 25th anniversary, we launched the GR 6 & GR8 High Fidelity Bookshelf Speakers, the initial models in the Grandis HiFi bookshelf speaker series. As we move forward, we have a series of other Grandis products in the pipeline that will be unveiled soon.
Here's to another 25 years of exceptional sound!

Tweeter Performance Perfected
After a year and a half of testing and design changes, the Grandis' sound aligned with our vision. However, we still hadn't achieved the perfect match. We examined the driver units, cabinet crossover design, and other components, but the challenge persisted. We then focused on the capacitors. After testing various options worldwide, we found a premium capacitor that met our sonic criteria, albeit at a high cost. This prompted us to create our own capacitor. After extensive research and experimentation, we developed a silver nickel alloy capacitor that enhances the smoothness and clarity of the Grandis Tweeter Unit.

Two Way Bookshelf Design
The Grandis GR8 features an exceptional two-way stand-mount design that offers distinct advantages in audio reproduction. It is meticulously equipped with Aperion’s 1.1" Saturn Waveguide Silk-Dome Tweeter, capable of precisely reproducing high-frequency details, and one 8" A.F.G. Cone Long-Throw Mid-Bass Woofer, providing a powerful and impactful low-frequency presence.

Robust Construction
The GR8 features a cabinet constructed from robust, high-density fiberboard (HDF). Its interior is meticulously engineered with multiple structural braces to ensure rock-solid stability, effectively eliminating cabinet resonance at its source and enabling a pure, interference-free audio output. In terms of aesthetics, the cabinet is finished in either elegant gloss blue opal or warm gloss rosewood veneer.

Advanced Crossover
Silver-foil capacitors are constructed using a silver and nickel alloy for their electrodes. They exhibit excellent high-frequency performance and are commonly used in radio, radar, television, and various communication equipment. These capacitors are particularly effective in high-frequency circuits, providing superior fidelity and an improved signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, silver-foil capacitors offer advantages such as long service life.
Multi-strand twisted wire inductors or Litz wire as it's often referred to, are carefully designed to accurately restore audio signals, thereby improving sound quality, reducing distortion, and minimizing high-frequency skin effects. In our pursuit of the ultimate tweeter design, we incorporate this high-end multi-strand inductor design in our Grandis high-fidelity speaker line.
Non-Inductive Resistor: This type of resistor is designed to minimize inductive reactance to an extremely low level, which can often be ignored. This design helps avoid signal distortion and energy loss in high-frequency circuits while maintaining a stable frequency response. Additionally, non-inductive resistors are known for their accuracy, high-temperature resistance, and overall stability.
