It’s easy to use and helps make the sounds you love even better. This super tweeter can bring out the high notes in your music, making everything sound clearer and more vibrant. It also helps expand the sound field, giving you a fuller listening experience, and can even improve the lower sounds, too. What is a PST Super Tweeter speaker?
What is a Super Tweeter speaker you say? Put simply, it’s an additional tweeter unit which covers a wide and extended high-frequency response, most likely beyond that of your existing loudspeaker’s integrated tweeters.
Many loud speaker systems have poor high frequency performance. A Super Tweeter specializes in ultra-high frequencies and is used in conjunction with a bookshelf or tower speaker. Its purpose is to create a more realistic sound field, often characterized as "airiness," which enhances the listening experience. Super Tweeters are used to supplement the sound of tweeters by reproducing frequencies which the existing tweeter may produce only with a narrow polar output, or perhaps with distortion, or simply a low output. Our Super Tweeter speakers provides auxiliary high frequency effect, detail, density and texture that can enhance your existing system’s sound field with width, depth and enhanced timbre.
The PST Super Tweeter is a planar-magnetic, flat-ribbon tweeter consisting of a Kapton film with a pattern of aluminum conductors. The crossover network used non-inductive resistors, and use thin-film semiconductor capacitors. A linear phase response provides time coherent sound reproduction, allowing for an accurate sound stage.
Aperion Audio Super Tweeters are intended to respond well into ultra-high frequencies over 20 kHz, the commonly accepted upper frequency limit of human hearing. Super Tweeters are ideal for taking advantage of extended-range audio formats such as vinyl, SACD, FLAC, UHD Blu-ray and other high-fidelity formats.
Pre-Purchase Information
1. Super tweeters are designed to work alongside your existing speakers; do not connect them directly to your audio source or amplifier.
2. Keep in mind that a super tweeter's output volume is usually low. If a super tweeter sounds excessively loud, it's typically a sign of poor quality.
3. Adding a super tweeter doesn't replace your current tweeter; please do not have that expectation.
4. While a super tweeter can enhance the overall sound experience, it does not guarantee "perfect" high-frequency sound. Instead, it enhances the sense of spaciousness and compensates for the high-frequency limitations of your original speakers, resulting in a better listening experience.
5. Make sure the sensitivity of the super tweeter is higher than that of your existing speakers. For example, if your horn-tweeter speakers have a sensitivity exceeding 100dB, adding a super tweeter with a sensitivity of 90dB or less wouldn't be effective.
6. The key to using super tweeters lies in experimentation and enjoyment. If you're not a serious audiophile or don't have the time to fine-tune settings, please think carefully about your purchase; achieving the best sound for your particular setup requires time and adjustments. And we recommend a minimum of 20~ hours of listening to allow your ears to adjust to the added high frequencies as well as fine tuning the adjustments.

You can also add super tweeters to a home theater system used for watching movies. Since many modern DVD and Blu-ray recordings capture frequencies well into the tens of thousands of Hertz, adding a super tweeter allows you to fully reproduce the audio effects and achieve the best possible listening experience.
Where should it be placed?
The optimal placement for a super tweeter speaker is on top of your loudspeaker, though positioning it immediately beside your speaker's tweeter is also an option. The primary goal is to achieve a "point source" effect, where the sound originates from a single, unified location. Additionally, because super tweeters have a faster response time, you may want to position the unit slightly farther back—while still keeping it vertically aligned with the high-frequency drivers—to ensure that the mid-range, bass, and high-frequency signals reach your ears simultaneously.

Pairing the PST Super Tweeters With Your Speakers
Using the Verus V6T's as an example, and it's 89dB Sensitivity, to match this take a look at the chart on the left, where you can see the Crossover and Treble Adjust is set to 8k Hz and -5dB, giving you 89dB output Sensitivity, your other options include 10 kHz and -4dB, 12kHz and -3dB, 14 kHz and -2dB, or 16 kHz and -1dB, though we highly recommend you to try each setting and see what works best for you.
Easy Connection
Aperion Audio Super Tweeters are external devices that connect in parallel to the binding posts of your passive speakers—just ensure that you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. The key is to experiment; avoid listening too closely. Instead, assess the sound quality from your usual listening spot to find which setting delivers the most natural, balanced, and seamless integration. Once you pinpoint the crossover setting that appeals to you the most, you can keep it for long-term use.

Can only dogs and cats hear it?
It is well known that the human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz; in reality, many older adults cannot even hear frequencies above 15 kHz. Since the human ear cannot perceive frequencies exceeding 20 kHz, why is there a need for "super-tweeters" that reach 40 kHz? Consequently, many people online claim that such sounds are audible only to cats and dogs.
This is a common misconception. When we design super-tweeters capable of reaching 40 kHz, the goal is not to enable you to hear 40 kHz itself, but rather to enhance the quality of the sound within the audible range (up to 20 kHz).
To take a simple example, suppose there are two tweeters:
A: Frequency response limit of 20 kHz
B: Frequency response limit of 40 kHz
If both are made to reproduce a 15 kHz sound:
A is already approaching its frequency response limit:
- The diaphragm begins to exhibit breakup (modal vibration)
- Phase distortion increases
- Distortion levels rise
B is operating at only half its capacity, so:
- Its sound is more linear
- Distortion is lower
- Transient response is better
It is akin to comparing two cars: one with an engine capable of 200 km/h and another of 400 km/h. When both are driven at 100 km/h, the latter operates with noticeably greater ease and composure.

Which speakers are compatible with the Aperion PST Planar-Magnetic Ribbon Super Tweeter?
The Aperion PST Super Tweeter is compatible with most passive bookshelf or tower speakers. It can also work with center channel and surround speakers. However, it is not suitable for powered/active or Bluetooth speakers. For best results, ensure your main speaker's sensitivity does not go above 94 dB Sensitivity, to ensure the Super Tweeter's are equal or louder than the speakers you are pairing them with.
How do I connect the Super Tweeter to my speakers?
The Super Tweeter is connected directly to the binding posts of your main speakers, not to the amplifier. Simply use speaker wire to connect the Super Tweeter in parallel with your main speaker cables. The 5-way binding posts accept bare wire, banana plugs, or spade/ring connectors for easy installation. Can I customize the sound of the Super Tweeter to match my system?
