This APERION Super Tweeter features a true ribbon design, which uses a 20 μm thick (0.02mm) aluminum ribbon strip.
Game-Changer for Improving Sound Quality
The clarity of this speaker brings a sense of lightness and heightening to the overall mix without any harsh or distorted traits. The impedance of the aluminum ribbon tweeter is almost constant, so it maintains a consistent frequency response curve in the higher frequency band range up to 40 kHz.
True ribbon tweeter designs are able to handle a higher SPL than planar magnetic Super Tweeters. Naturally with the true ribbon design, an electrical current can’t directly touch the ribbon so we employed a transformer that reaches up to 60 kHz, which requires two pieces of exceptionally strong neodymium 2-1/8” (55mm) by 3/8” (10mm) magnets to produce the linear magnetic field. The entire magnetic array, ribbon, and damping materials are enclosed in a heavy-duty steel chamber.
The RST Aluminum ribbon super-tweeters boast excellent physical characteristics, including a wide frequency response, high sensitivity, low distortion, and superior transient response. They not only faithfully reproduce waveforms for simple harmonic signals but also respond rapidly to complex musical signals—particularly percussive and plucked-string instruments rich in transient characteristics. Furthermore, they deliver rich, lively, airy delicate, and smooth overtones, along with superior horizontal directivity.
They serve as a unique enhancement for Hi-Fi systems that suffer from dull timbre, poor high-frequency extension, or insufficient output in the high frequency range, as well as for home theater systems characterized by a dark overall soundstage and weak high-frequency impact.
Overall, this ribbon tweeter design allows for minimal distortion compared to the Planar Magnetic Super Tweeter, and, along with the ribbon's longitudinal shape, the true aluminum ribbon super tweeter creates a delicate and spacious sound field.

1. Super tweeters are designed to work alongside your existing speakers; do not connect them directly to your audio source or amplifier.
2. Keep in mind that a super tweeter's output volume is usually low. If a super tweeter sounds excessively loud, it's typically a sign of poor quality.
3. Adding a super tweeter doesn't replace your current tweeter; please do not have that expectation.
4. While a super tweeter can enhance the overall sound experience, it does not guarantee "perfect" high-frequency sound. Instead, it enhances the sense of spaciousness and compensates for the high-frequency limitations of your original speakers, resulting in a better listening experience.
5. Make sure the sensitivity of the super tweeter is higher than that of your existing speakers. For example, if your horn-tweeter speakers have a sensitivity exceeding 100dB, adding a super tweeter with a sensitivity of 90dB or less wouldn't be effective.
6. The key to using super tweeters lies in experimentation and enjoyment. If you're not a serious audiophile or don't have the time to fine-tune settings, please think carefully about your purchase; achieving the best sound for your particular setup requires time and adjustments. And we recommend a minimum of 20~ hours of listening to allow your ears to adjust to the added high frequencies as well as fine tuning the adjustments.

Where should it be placed?

The lowest setting, 8 kHz, will provide the most overlap with your existing tweeter while the highest setting, 16 kHz, will have minimal overlap, picking up at the top-end of the range. The crossover slope is 12 dB/octave.

Too much of a good thing? Use the treble adjust to reduce the output of the Super Tweeter. Just flip the switch and adjust to taste, up to -5dB of attenuation.
Pairing the RST Super Tweeters With Your Speakers
Using the Verus V8T's as an example, and it's 91dB Sensitivity, to match this take a look at the chart on the left, where you can see the Crossover and Treble Adjust is set to 8k Hz and -5dB, giving you 91dB output Sensitivity, your other options include 10 kHz and -4dB, 12kHz and -3dB, 14 kHz and -2dB, or 16 kHz and -1dB, though we highly recommend you to try each setting and see what works best for you.

Aperion Audio Super Tweeters are external devices that connect in parallel to the binding posts of your passive speakers—just ensure that you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. The key is to experiment; avoid listening too closely. Can only dogs and cats hear it?
It is well known that the human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz; in reality, many older adults cannot even hear frequencies above 15 kHz. Since the human ear cannot perceive frequencies exceeding 20 kHz, why is there a need for "super-tweeters" that reach 40 kHz? Consequently, many people online claim that such sounds are audible only to cats and dogs.
This is a common misconception. When we design super-tweeters capable of reaching 40 kHz, the goal is not to enable you to hear 40 kHz itself, but rather to enhance the quality of the sound within the audible range (up to 20 kHz).
To take a simple example, suppose there are two tweeters:
A: Frequency response limit of 20 kHz
B: Frequency response limit of 40 kHz
If both are made to reproduce a 15 kHz sound:
A is already approaching its frequency response limit:
- The diaphragm begins to exhibit breakup (modal vibration)
- Phase distortion increases
- Distortion levels rise
B is operating at only half its capacity, so:
- Its sound is more linear
- Distortion is lower
- Transient response is better
It is akin to comparing two cars: one with an engine capable of 200 km/h and another of 400 km/h. When both are driven at 100 km/h, the latter operates with noticeably greater ease and composure.
