This APERION Super Tweeter features a true ribbon design, which uses a 20 μm thick (0.02mm) aluminum ribbon strip.
Game-Changer for Improving Sound Quality
The clarity of this speaker brings a sense of lightness and heightening to the overall mix without any harsh or distorted traits. The impedance of the aluminum ribbon tweeter is almost constant, so it maintains a consistent frequency response curve in the higher frequency band range up to 40 kHz.
True ribbon tweeter designs are able to handle a higher SPL than planar magnetic Super Tweeters. Naturally with the true ribbon design, an electrical current can’t directly touch the ribbon so we employed a transformer that reaches up to 60 kHz, which requires two pieces of exceptionally strong neodymium 2-1/8” (55mm) by 3/8” (10mm) magnets to produce the linear magnetic field. The entire magnetic array, ribbon, and damping materials are enclosed in a heavy-duty steel chamber.
The RST Aluminum ribbon super-tweeters boast excellent physical characteristics, including a wide frequency response, high sensitivity, low distortion, and superior transient response. They not only faithfully reproduce waveforms for simple harmonic signals but also respond rapidly to complex musical signals—particularly percussive and plucked-string instruments rich in transient characteristics. Furthermore, they deliver rich, lively, airy delicate, and smooth overtones, along with superior horizontal directivity.
They serve as a unique enhancement for Hi-Fi systems that suffer from dull timbre, poor high-frequency extension, or insufficient output in the high frequency range, as well as for home theater systems characterized by a dark overall soundstage and weak high-frequency impact.
Overall, this ribbon tweeter design allows for minimal distortion compared to the Planar Magnetic Super Tweeter, and, along with the ribbon's longitudinal shape, the true aluminum ribbon super tweeter creates a delicate and spacious sound field.
Pre-Purchase Information
1. Super tweeters are designed to work alongside your existing speakers; do not connect them directly to your audio source or amplifier.
2. Keep in mind that a super tweeter's output volume is usually low. If a super tweeter sounds excessively loud, it's typically a sign of poor quality.
3. Adding a super tweeter doesn't replace your current tweeter; please do not have that expectation.
4. While a super tweeter can enhance the overall sound experience, it does not guarantee "perfect" high-frequency sound. Instead, it enhances the sense of spaciousness and compensates for the high-frequency limitations of your original speakers, resulting in a better listening experience.
5. Make sure the sensitivity of the super tweeter is higher than that of your existing speakers. For example, if your horn-tweeter speakers have a sensitivity exceeding 100dB, adding a super tweeter with a sensitivity of 90dB or less wouldn't be effective.
6. The key to using super tweeters lies in experimentation and enjoyment. If you're not a serious audiophile or don't have the time to fine-tune settings, please think carefully about your purchase; achieving the best sound for your particular setup requires time and adjustments. And we recommend a minimum of 20~ hours of listening to allow your ears to adjust to the added high frequencies as well as fine tuning the adjustments.

Using the Verus V8T's as an example, and it's 91dB Sensitivity, to match this take a look at the chart on the left, where you can see the Crossover and Treble Adjust is set to 8k Hz and -5dB, giving you 91dB output Sensitivity, your other options include 10 kHz and -4dB, 12kHz and -3dB, 14 kHz and -2dB, or 16 kHz and -1dB, though we highly recommend you to try each setting and see what works best for you.

Can only dogs and cats hear it?
It is well known that the human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz; in reality, many older adults cannot even hear frequencies above 15 kHz. Since the human ear cannot perceive frequencies exceeding 20 kHz, why is there a need for "super-tweeters" that reach 40 kHz? Consequently, many people online claim that such sounds are audible only to cats and dogs.
This is a common misconception. When we design super-tweeters capable of reaching 40 kHz, the goal is not to enable you to hear 40 kHz itself, but rather to enhance the quality of the sound within the audible range (up to 20 kHz).
To take a simple example, suppose there are two tweeters:
A: Frequency response limit of 20 kHz
B: Frequency response limit of 40 kHz
If both are made to reproduce a 15 kHz sound:
A is already approaching its frequency response limit:
- The diaphragm begins to exhibit breakup (modal vibration)
- Phase distortion increases
- Distortion levels rise
B is operating at only half its capacity, so:
- Its sound is more linear
- Distortion is lower
- Transient response is better
It is akin to comparing two cars: one with an engine capable of 200 km/h and another of 400 km/h. When both are driven at 100 km/h, the latter operates with noticeably greater ease and composure.

I like what it adds so far to the entire sound - I have very efficient speakers - 94db - I am experimenting with the controls on the back - currently at 10k and 0 db - which I prefer to the other settings at this moment - that could change. It is not an in your face type of change but subtle and pleasant.

Exactly as I hoped. I wanted a supertweeter to provide just a bit more detail and more "air" and imaging to my (already very, very good) Wharfedale Linton speakers. These supertweeters improved imaging (creating a wider soundstage) and added the small amount of additional detail I wanted. They're also attractive and quite flexible, with adjustable attenuation and crossover points. The manual, which maps attenuation and crossover to speaker sensitivity, is very helpful.
I thought it was best to rate them after a short break-in period… I’m operating them at 12k; their added height and presence to good recorded music is remarkable. My center channel speaker sits low with an upward tilt… placing the Aperion RST tweeter directly forward, on top of it, unleashed a breathtaking presence, totally unexpected… Left, right fronts and surround back channels sits atop of 47” high NHT towers, locks in all the height and airiness anyone could stand… I also think the RST’s enclosures add even more high end to my setup.

I am using my super tweeters with my SVS Surround speakers .. This is a different setup as my front speakers are Klipsch La Scalas paired with a SVS Center .. The super tweeters are pointed almost directly to the listener on top of the surround speakers .. The super tweeters are dialed in at 12KHz and -3dB .. Using an Anthem AVR, SVS subwoofer and Magnetar DVD/CD player ... This combination is outstanding/superb .. I can hear every instrument in the music that I had not heard before .. Fantastic purchase ..
The RST Mk2 Super tweeters added the details my JBL L82s were missing. They create a sense of airiness in the sound stage that was not there before. Percussion especially is richer and more detailed. I have had the new Aperion aluminium supertweeters for about 10 days. A few days ago, I received my Sound Anchor stands for my Tannoy Legacy Ardens. As good as my system sounded before, it has dramatically improved. More air, better bass, more dimensionality and just more wonderful. I seem to prefer 10Khz for CDs and 12Khz for SACDs. I will be experimenting further with the Aperions, but they are keepers.

Thank you Aperion Audio, My new aluminum super tweeters blends in flawlessly and exciting. It also enhances the front stage, where things that was not heard before, now is heard big time.
How I discovered Aperion? I have had a system I love - musical, etc. (I'm not going to bother you with so popular cliches). I also felt that something was missing in the "presentation" (How I hate these standard descriptions ;-) You music lovers know what I mean. While surfing interned I read about Aperion and their products and I realized that my original Martin Logan CLS were suffocating at higher frequencies in spite of what the specs were saying. So I decided to purchase Aperion RTS Aluminum Super Tweeters. Did they make a difference? - definitely yes, but it wasn't enough. I followed the charts on Aperion's site that stated that for the sensitivity of ML CLS I should set a Treble to -5dB and Crossover to 16 kHz. It still wasn't good. So I started "tweaking" and ended up with Treble at -4dB and Crossover at 12 kHz. And it is perfect (although as someone wise have said "only God is perfect" - personally I have some doubts about it lol) While adjusting RTS Ribbon Tweeters I contacted Collin Lybarger who is a General Manager of Aperion and I was impressed by his knowledge of Aperion's products and by his advice - "experiment and experiment - that's the only way to reach the sound you love, treat our charts as a general guideline and a starting point". These are very humble words of someone who knows the product and doesn't need to brag. Thank you Collin and all of of people who make these small RTS wonders. Cheers, Lucian

They are a keeper I had heard mixed reviews about Super Tweeters on Youtube, so I decided to try a pair for myself. My initial thought is that they do bring out the music a bit more and are not extra bright which I was fearing from them. Actually they do not add this over bearing degree of highs to your music, they actually blend right in with my Polk Audio speakers and are a perfect marriage. They are probably not for everyone, just like subwoofers, The good thing is that you can try them for 30 days and decide. I am happy to keep my pair.

They have increased my enjoyment of music using them on my Wharfdale Lintons. The treble is a bit more bright but not too bright. The midrange is more lively and I can hear the individual instruments more distinctly. They were easy to set up with a little experimentation. I was warned about cone filtering but the way I have them placed I am not experiencing that effect.

These super tweeters blew me away. I had to get my thoughts down after giving myself a break from listening to them. Here is my stunned set of ramblings. Long story short, but them.

They have improved the mid and high range. There is more airiness and the instruments and vocals are more defined. I don’t laced them above the cabinets tweeters and back about 2” . I found the best setting was at 12KHZ and -5 db. I’m not having any problems with cone filtering on my Wharfdale Lintons. They sound much better to my ears with the MK IIs.

Well made like new open box RST super tweeters I ordered an open box item which had a substantial discount over buying new. However, the super tweeters were in like new condition. They were received within a few days of ordering. I feel the open box offering allowed me to purchase a quality item at a reduced price. Still testing with integrating these with my main speakers

I wasn't sure what to expect, truth be told, as I am 100% happy with my Venus III Grand Tower Speakers. But after reading and watching reviews I felt obligated to purchase Aluminum Ribbon Super Tweeter Speakers myself. Oh my goodness, if you have experienced having a smile from ear to ear while at the same time having tears in your eyes, these speakers will do that again. The soundstage is amazing, the clarity beyond belief. If you like any kind of percussion these speakers bring that out without taking away from anything else. I highly recommend listening to Trevor Horn's "Ancient & Modern" and your mind will be blown as mine was. I am thrilled to listen and recommend these Super Tweeters. And of course, the Aperion people are fantastic to deal with.

Awesome! From start to finish. Everything was amazing. Customer service is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. They don’t just treat you like a customer but they speak to you like a fan of audio. No matter how many questions I asked they were responding quickly. Thumbs up and I will definitely be buying from aperion audio in the future.

Audiophile Super tweets ,yes. Setting on top of Wharfedale Linton's , being pushed w/ 35 watt all tube Primaluna Prologue Premium integrated. Vinyl only , 2 channel. The Linton's are glorious by themselves, and on some recordings I just switch them off. On a scratchy recording , the ribbon tweets will make the pops stand out , but that is inevitable. My vinyl is always cleaned & cared for , and on a good recording , these Aperion true ribbons add another dimension to your music . Are they too expensive? That's up to you & your wallet. But I believe hearing is believing . I have the Planar Magnetics too. Started my tweeter journey with them , and I would say most people would be happy with them , but I just had to get the true ribbons.
